Bethesda....Bethesda never changes!!

or they could just use the free engines they own, like all the ID Tech engines they have as they own ID but for some reasons wont go that route.
They have taken the goods parts of id's engine and used it in the Creation engine. Fallout 76 has ID engine code in it. It makes no sense for them to maintain two engines long term, far more sense to merge the best bits of both.

fallout 76 supports vulcan then ?

Completely off tangent, but the 'war never changes' quote was amazing at the beginning of Fallout 3. I thought they had borrowed the line from some bygone philosopher. Apparently not.

console ports, PC is bad and the engine physics tied to fps and what else made me sea sick playing fallout 76 so I cancelled the game.
If they dont fix that to the new games its just the same mess

Bethesda are masters of 'How the **** do they get away with it so much?'. Activision Blizzard are not far behind though recent events might change that :p.

But didn't they buy id to get the idTech engines? What was the point if they're not going to use it?

They are just too comfortable with their old tech, old reusable assets, old toolchain, etc. It probably works out cheaper than rebuilding all the old engine work environment and assets for idTech, and management won't invest in the future.

Bethesda are a ******* joke, they really are.

For Fallout 76 we have changed a lot. The game uses a new renderer, a new lighting system and a new system for the landscape generation.

I'd love for them to explain why is it that a.) assets just pop in right in front of you b.) objects in interior areas just look flat and plain wrong due to lack of shadows and c.) the landscape looks like an actual low-res turd?

the pop in is just odd as bethesda claimed this engine solved that but guess it didnt, god knows what other bugs are in this game. but one iv found care of twitters rather game breaking it seems.

Played it last night, spent 20 mins creating my character, then another 45 mins trying to get teams to work (and re-adding friends when my social list kept deleting them), before finally giving up and going to bed

if thats true bethesda yet again pushed out a game broken because of marketing dates rather than development dates.

oh good, more buggy crap from bethesda.

CDPR has made them look like amateurs in the last few years.
+1

CDPR have been doing that to many companies. The gap will only widen next year when Cyberpunk 2077 comes out.

I agree that not using a new engine at this point is bonkers, but if Bethesda get the gameplay and story right, they know it will sell loads anyway. Everyone here complaining will buy regardless. I know I will if it is as good as if not better than Skyrim, which I really enjoyed.

Yep except this time modders can't fix it, because it's an MMO and you can't change things.

ESO is the same. It really needed a better engine and it runs like crap with no real way to improve it. But there is no real physics engine to go wonky in that.

Oh yea, also no 21:9 support at all in Fallout 76 lol

The engine makes most games using it almost cartoon like in appearance compared to more modern ones. It's literally unreal that they think it acceptable to release further big titles on it that they will no doubt be heavily reliant on.

Again its because Todd Howard likes all the existing content creation tools they have already. Also the ID Tech engine will not really work very well in the size of game world BSG need its barely useable in smaller levels on The Evil Within 2 & Wolfenstein 2  especially when HDR is enabled the FPS collapse!

Fallout 76 has 21:9 you need a mod but the ini is not locked at all on PC LOL you can mod away as per my post here with URL's yesterday!

AWPC yeah YOU have to edit the ini that should be a easy option for you to click not have to mod the base game.

as for the hdr comment, yeah hdr tanks frames in most games :P

Their goal is simple: make as much money as possible! There is really no point in hoping some improvements from them, only sales talk. There hasn't been a major improvement in a very long time to their games, no "wow" factor, nothing groundbreaking, nothing in their actions to prove they're more than after your money. They won't change the engine to ID tech, because "schooling" their team with the new engine takes time and money, plus you tend to lose potential benefits brought by the modding community which (like another "syster" company, Bohemia), fix their games and add a lot of value on top.

They're doing well and will do so until other companies supply good enough (perceived) quality products to cover the demand. Then they will be change forced by the market, not before.

21:9 is coming though I am not defending BSG but they did say it will be added. No HDR on PC its on the consoles for this game but missing from PC right now. Nvidia do not do well with HDR is probably why as AMD have better HDR data compression!

lol features that should be finalised well before the games launched are "coming" says it all tbh.
