US: Better Call Saul

I'm probably in the minority here, but these last 2 episodes have been a bit of a slog. I don't think it was supposed to be this way, but I'm more invested in Kim (or Kim and Jimmy's relationship) than I am with solely Jimmy at this point. I don't really know what they're building up to with him still doing these scams as Gene, clearly he's building a nest egg of some sort, but does Kim fit into the picture? It doesn't seem like it, based on the phone call. I don't know how satisfying it will be to just see Jimmy riding off into the sunset with a load of cash to waste away his days.

The most ambitious thing this episode did was essentially contextualize all of Breaking Bad as being kinda Jimmy's fault. Walt was an amateur nobody was taking seriously, and Jimmy decided to make him into something, all because he's coping over losing Kim.

The cameo was so not needed. We've gone 6 seasons without it and certainly didn't need THAT scene just to get them a spot on the show.

I'm assuming this all leads to his downfall. I cant see Gene winning given the scheming here.

I have a hunch that Jimmy is going to get caught scamming people as Gene, the police will either recognise him as Saul Goodman, get DNA, finger prints, etc and it will flag up on the system that he's wanted in connection to Heisenberg/Blue Sky meth empire.

Did get all giddy seeing Walt and Jess in the TV again but feel like it was more for the fans than to add to the story.

Going by post on here and various other places, there's a lot of 'Fan service' being thrown around. Why fan service? I will assume it's because of older characters making an appearance, which I understand, but if it tells the story it's not fan service, its part of the story. This part of the new episode was, in opinion, quite interesting. Mike telling Saul to stay away from Walter but Saul had other ideas. This now has made my opinion of Saul somewhat mixed. I liked the way he progressed into Saul but now I see what he did to Walt and Jessie and now this scam in BCS, it make me think he is more of a **** than first thought.
The new Walt and Jessie scenes were quite important to Sauls story. It showed how things came to be, the dialogue and acting from Saul, to me, told a story arc in a new light.

No flaming from me. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last two episodes and after watching the latest one, I went back to BB and watched the appropriate scenes along with the new ones in order.

It’s concreted that Saul really isn’t a nice person. Like Walt, he’s a proper anti-hero. Would Walter have ended up the way he did without Saul? Probably no.

I thought they did a good job of putting both Cranston and Paul back in the roles, it’s just a shame that Paul’s voice has dropped by about an octave since we last saw him.

Yes, I think the series overlap has been done well and it’s added a new understanding to BB.

Someone used the german audio track and filtered out the audio so you can hear jimmy's side of the phone booth conversation. interesting stuff

Waterworks

Gene says Kim works at a place called Palm Coast Sprinklers in Florida. In the game of monopoly, Water Works is just 2 spots ahead of Go To Jail.

I don’t think that’s a leak (hahah, pun intended), the title of the next episode was being discussed as soon as this one aired. Also, the title of the final episode is also out there.

Today's episode was freaking great. It's sad to see Kim's life now, but she's facing up to everything that happened finally. It's becoming increasingly hard to have any sympathy for Jimmy/Gene at all, he has lost all perspective I think.

Another great episode, really enjoying how it's going.

Kim basically can't make a decision about anything at all now, any question she's asked she defers it to someone else, especially the "yip" guy but at work as well.

Mike's been replaced by a machine.

Gene is an absolute git, worse than he's ever been as Jimmy or Saul.

Anyone notice the advert was reflected in colour in his glasses?

Only one episode left to go :(

When his commercial played in colour on his glasses and everything else kept black and white was surreal, that's the first time ever watching I was thinking is Saul about to kill someone

Seeing how boring and normal Kim has made her life after leaving really hits home, owning up to what they did to Howard but having no proof or knowing where his body is you could see the sadness seeping through, one episode left it's going to be interesting to see what happens and how it gets wrapped up.

Kim talking to Jesse was a cameo I wasn't expecting at all.

Got to say this episode was a slog for me, didnt find it enjoyable at all. When I compare it to "normal" episodes all these greyscale episodes are just so meh.

I liked the touch with jessie however.

Great episode imo, can't believe we only have one more to go, will be sad to leave the bb universe

also the colour reflection in his glasses is a nod back to the pilot I believe when the first gene scene is played, he's watching his commercials and the reflections are in colour then too

Yeh that was steller episode.

The cameo worked better here imo, and catching up with Kim and her decisions was great. That colour commercial was an ace touch.

Honestly I hope Gene's end is brutal...he really doesn't deserve to get away it. He's such a nasty piece of work.
