BF Hardline Visceral Games

No one said it was the only problem, but it certainly doesn't help. It was more the player numbers I was getting at to be honest.

Population has been low for several months in BFHL. Even the CTE from what I heard was a shambles so much so that they didn't restrict it to Premium like they did with BF4. I was even surprised when Ronku Matimi0 said not to buy the game based on how low the player numbers are which then turned into a Twitter argument with one of the devs at Visceral.

They did advertise the game as "The fastest Battlefield" and it certainly lived up to that. It's a shame because they could have used the resources towards what we all actually wanted - Bad Company 3 and making damn sure that it was a true successor to the series without going for a cash grab like they did with Hardline and catering for the console crowd.

Is what it is Twirly - they made a game which didn't live up to expectations. With that said I'm still keen to give it another go if they make improvements. Finding a server to play on, well that's another story :D

What surprises me the most with the last Battlefield release is how large the PS4 population is - consistently more players than on PC according to BF4stats, although peaks are nearly the same.

I feel battlefront will go the same way :( I was going to get BFH for the single player when it dropped below £15 but apparently its not even worth it :(

yep that why i didnt even try the demo.

will be hype for first month to get you to buy and be dead just like hardline.

lets face it the priority just like cod is for consoles.

When you make a unique IP into a clone or hybrid of another then that's when problems start. Hardline was a COD clone with steroids hence why on console it is populated even today.

Battlefront has different audiences.
-Those who have never played the IP before but are interested because it is made by the Battlefield creators.
-Those who have played Battlefront before.
-Star Wars fans

I fall under the first category and thought of it as another shooter and nothing really shone in the Alpha but the beta should be out soon for that and I'm going to give it another chance.

I tend to think that it will still do well because of the third audience while it will largely be ignored by the first and second because it doesn't meet expectations. The first audience is expecting something with the skill ceiling and complexity of BF while the second audience is expecting a build on the features found in previous titles.

Ultimately it won't matter because EA will jump on the multi million movie advertising budget which will be spent on a movie that I personally am looking forward to and will probably break box office records.

-Clutching at straws
-ALL Re-imagined maps in BF4 have been a flop
-Doesn't take away from the fundamental issues still present in HL
-What correlation with Battlefield does Hardline even have to "own" Grand Bazaar and have it ported?
-Will never happen anyway
-PC player base is lower than ever

I've actually been playing this again Twirly. There is only 2 populated servers in US (no DLC) but it's not bad if you want some mindless point and shoot.

Just beaten this, thoughts below:

+Decent graphics and performance, skylines in particular are impressive
+Interesting direction for the genre, felt a bit like Splinter Cell at times
+Main cast of characters fairly strong
+Incentivises stealth fairly well
+Good array of weapons and attachments
+Some good locations and set pieces

-Seems to have some sort of memory leak issue, it crashed on me a few times after playing for a couple of hours saying Windows needed more memory despite having several gig free
-Doesn't seem to know what it wants to be, most of the time it is a moderately serious game but then you get some completely random level thrown in like the one with Boomer's ex's dad.
-Ending didn't quite sit right with me, it felt like the player could have at least been given a choice
-Cutscenes locked at 30fps
-Vehicle mechanics suck, driving feels like a game from 10+ years ago
-Expert level cap feels too low, I was maxed out by about two-thirds of the way through so just started going rambo as there was little benefit from takedowns
-Play area too small at times, there was one level where I wanted to swim round the side of the building but it brought up the "RETURN TO THE CRIME SCENE!" timer, I then found I couldn't climb back up onto the pier so game over. It felt a bit too linear at times, more so than was necessary perhaps
-Not convinced by the checkpoint pacing, a couple of times when tackling a heavily defended outpost I was frustrated at having to go all the way back to the beginning on death
-AI pretty poor

Overall it wasn't really what I was expecting, but generally OK.
