BF3 v BF4

Was dead one month after release for me.

Uninstalled it after becoming addicted to the BF4 beta, tried it again after and it felt horrible.

I didn't put much time into BF3 as i didn't enjoy it as much as BF2/BC2 but BF4 is much better IMO and i put half the time i played in BF3 into the BF4 beta.

I reckon it'll die out pretty quickly once BF4 is released.

It will probably dies yes. To a certain extent at least.

I'm still thoroughly enjoying it at the moment. Still think the gun play is better than what we saw in BF4 BETA (minus suppression of course).

But I believe BF4 is the better game overall (assuming the map designs aren't horrendous).

All joking aside, no battlefield game has matched the fun and feeling of BF1942.
It had the scale, hell it even had submarines!

I loved bf2 and kind of liked bfbc2 but just did not get on with bf3 maybe it's my age but the fun is slowly being stripped it off these game's.

I probably played bf1942 more than any other online game I ever played.

I had months of fun out of that, I never bought the expansions either

Dice were never the real dev team behind the GOOD BF games

codename eagle aka battlefield 1917 ;)

Codename Eagle is a computer game developed by Stockholm-based studio Refraction Games and was released in November 1999. Refraction Games later merged with Digital Illusions CE (DICE) and developed Battlefield 1942.

the real geniuses behind the bf series ;)
awesome game and maybe the first multiplayer game with land, sea and air vehicles in multiplayer ?

without codename eagle the BF series would not exist

I played BF3 fairly solidly for the first 12 months then got bored. Briefly tried the BF4 beta so went for the BF4 + 1 DLC option as the price of premium was just unbelievable.

The most 'fun' BF game for me was BF2142 :D I loved that game.

This followed by BF:Vietnam which had the best infantry play out of any of them.

BF1942 was well ahead of its time and was the first multiplayer game I played (56k modem job!) It was great fun and we haven't seen the same scope of maps or vehicles since which is a shame. Also snipers were useful ! (could spot for artillery) Air power was pretty daft on some of the maps and inf. could do nothing.

.....

That is the first time I can remember ever hearing about that game !?

not surprising if your first multiplayer game was bf1942.
codename eagle had a pretty poor singleplayer so didn't get very good reviews but the multiplayer made the game which not many reviewers appeared to try.

look at the other videos of it some of the maps/buildings are almost exactly like bf1942 and could easily be confused for it

BF3 will carry on, sure you will still find a server with people playing on for as long as DICE supports it with battlelog... but as for it vs. BF4? BF3 just wasn't a polished game in any respect, the UI was horrific and fought harder against you than any player ever would. The vanilla maps (and a couple of the DLCs) were just bad and 95% chokepoint. Most of the servers were a minefield of retarded ticket amounts of instant respawning vehicles or both. DICE never made any actual effort to bug fix, just DLC bloat the game.

Will BF4 be the perfect game? no. But it is far, far more polished and feature baring than BF3 was so it is a more than worthy successor.

I never knew that, very interesting. I still maintain it is the best of all battlefield games.
BF2 was great but for some reason seemed too easy/dumbed down compared to what the Desert Combat mod for bf1942 was.

BF3 wasnt for me at first after playing all the BF titles over the years, But now that ive done 272Hrs i will find it hard to move over to BF4 after the beta :s

Let end this thread…..

Personally I’ve lost the love for BF. However I’m still going to enjoy playing it!

My clan is primarily Battlefield orientated , we played in a lot of ladders and took part in plenty of ESL matches. We competed twice at iseries. The first time we finished 3rd and just missed out on going up on stage. The second event we finished 2nd, however due to Battlefields limited/non-existent spectate mode the game was dropped and the finals were played from players desks!

Jackfrags did a video which pretty much sums up what DICE needed to do. They must have taken note as he’s been flown to DICE HQ on a number of occasions to interview Patrick Batch amongst others.

So the Bottom line is Battlefield 3 was a joke, Battlefield 4 is how 3 should have been released. Meaning Battlefield 4 is, despite being almost a carbon copy a far far far superior game! What DICE has managed to do is get paid twice for more or less the same product. Which is why those arrogant ***** in EA keep getting worst company in Murica' award.

The life and success of a game usually depends on whether it has a large competitive following or it can be highly modded. Bf2 was so successful because you could do both!

BF3 is more like a demo for 4. It would be pointless to keep playing it unless ofc you enjoy a dumb down version!

^^ complete drivel that, sorry mate.

BF3 is a fantastic game, £17 for hours and hours of murder death kill fun. I don't care about the competitive side and maybe the majority of 'casual' players don't also.

EA, regardless of the hate they incur, are always going to release new versions of their most successful games and BF4 is a natural progression. I'm sure for the measly outlay I'll get just as much satisfaction and shenanigans from public matches as I did with all it predecessors.

Codename Eagle...

Man alive, we used to play that for ages - occasionally for the entirety of an overnight event at The Playing Fields near Warren St tube, if anyone remembers that place.

It was epic.

And thats why EA will keep spewing out cheap thril rubbish, sheep like yourself with flock in the 100,000's without at least questioning the **** they pull! I understand that people like yourself like the lower more basic run and gun game.. But I play PC to have a little bit more depth, otherwise i'd go on a console.

DICe allowed users to Mod BF2 which added a new depth and gave new avenues for players to go for!

Dont you think it mental that it took them until BF4 to put in VOIP, free cam etc... when it was in BF2! Lets be fair Jackfrags is a well respected Gamer and for him to post a 33mins video on what DICE/EA did with BF3 says that your "casual" gamer does care!!

The hype for BF4 is nothing compared with the hype for BF3, which to mean says if they're not carefull they could end up with another MoH senario. All because they're greedy **********.
