BF3 v BF4

The scope "glint" is a balancing mechanism that prevents recon class from sitting in one spot repeatedly camping a spot. Regardless of if people like it or not, it certainly has an effect because every scope without exception hates it and every grunt thinks its great!.

no a sniper is a sniper. it didn't work in B3.

lol takes me back to the BFBC recon hate days :D

What you mean is, you didnt like it. It undoubtedly worked as intended, beause A. They have added it to BF4 and B. It most definitely gives away the location of a scope.

Loam yes I'm saying I didn't like the flashlight effects on a sniper every where I looked. It was overstated wasn't it. So its back in B4.. that is a shame.

I certainly havent noticed a difference yet, the server that I play BF3 on was always full (64 players) with a half dozen players queuing before BF4 came out, and since BF4 came out, its still on 64 players full with a half dozen players queuing. So not yet noticed any impact on my BF3.

Battlefield 4 has not been release yet.

No I know, I wasnt specific enough, I meant during the beta timeframe that I noticed no impact at all, and most of the chat on the server has been that people will be sticking to BF3 and not purchasing BF4.

On a personal note, I wish they had opted to make a revamped BF1942 myself, as I still think that BF1942 was the best BF game they've made, with the best balance, the best sized maps and the most variety of land, sea and air.

Loam's on about the sight/scope on Sniper class not the flash light, flash light will show all the time if turned on where as the Scope flicker/flash kicks in after you've been sitting in any area/position for a certain period of time.

One thing I love, love, love about BF4 is that is really bends over backwards to put you on the same squad/team as your friends automatically and game won't auto balance one of you individually to the other side but it might auto balance all of you. I would rather get beaten with my friends than win individually and this game realises that!!!

+1 an excellent feature :)

I played BF3 on the Xbox so only really got to see that side of the game and i loved it tbh, i have never played the other Battlefield releases.
I came here 4 months ago ish with a choice, spend xbox One money on an Xbox One, or go back to PC and see if i can get a decent gaming system, i think i made the right choice.
I played Bf4 Beta pre-ordered and i think it'll be just as popular as BF3 when its released soon, probably more popular, it looks great, plays great the sound is excellent, and they have fixed the suppression effect so i'm a happy bunny as that's what ruined BF3 in the end for me.
Yes the Beta crashed, my memory was ****ed so the pc crashed, i spent most of my game time messing about with settings and altering things, and probably only had about 3 positive KD matches of the whole event, but i liked it all the same. Well until i had finished unlocking things, then i lost interest in rooftop conquest Shanghai, although with a few more maps i would have been content, so that's a good thing.
Can't wait, i can't see the tec support here getting my Ram sorted and delivered in time for the launch but i'll see you on the Battlefield soon enough.
Oh counter knifing "F"<<<<<<Cool.

I like the sniper scope glint.

Snipers were a big problem in bc 2 especially in hc mode (1 shot = 1 kill no matter the distance or where you hit them), they had the ghille suit and a lot of the maps had a fair bit of cover/foliage so it was very hard to spot the sniper that was trying to shoot you.

In fact it was so bad that most servers I played on had a limit i.e. only 2-3 recons per team.

In BF 3 (especially since the maps were bigger and more open with lots of good sniping spots) it was great as it meant that you could actually stand a chance against them i.e. fire a few rounds at them and suppress them bad enough so that their accuracy would be **** thus they couldn't snipe you and you can run for cover safely. That stupid suppression system plus lack of c4 or any explosive, rewarded **** all for spotting + soflam etc. is what made recon class so **** in bf 3.

In bf 4 beta, snipers are a lot more deadly now since you don't have that same suppression system (due to this I didn't take the risk trying to engage a sniper across the map like I would in bf 3), they have C4 + motion balls + can use carbines. Just a shame that you will still get a ton of noobs playing as recon trying to get their pro kills across the map and not doing a single thing to help the team :(

Besides, iirc is there not a gadget for recon that they can use to eliminate the scope glint or reduce it in BF 4 (iirc you will be limited to a small scope or something though)?

This ^ . Some of the maps were huge and genuinely took sometime for you to traverse and this is something that is lacking in newer BF games. BF1942 maps had relatively few capture points especially considering how big the maps were, but this forced more battles/fights to happen between capture points, allowing ambushes etc. to be a viable defense in places.

BF3's maps, though big, took very little time to traverse and sometimes would have too many capture points relatively close to each other.

BF2 got a lot of these things right. Even on a linear map like Dragon Valley capture points were laid out in a good way for the terrain making it a fun map, and rewarding team play.
