Just the way it is with Battlefield. I don't think I have seen anyone who gets 100% on both cards in an sli/xfire configuration on a full 64 player map in BF4 ( or 3 for that matter).
Single player both GPU's run at 95%+ utilisation.
I'm on a 3770k at 4.5 my cards (7970 crossfire) max out at 95-97% with v-sync on,
I don't see how that is possible ( unless you are using insane amounts of super sampling), especially with vsync on!
If they are not overclocked cards and he runs relatively high resolution i.e. 1440+,1600, 5760x1080 then hes gonna maxout even with vsyn on.
We need more detail on hows its used really!!!
Like previously mentioned running a battlescreen tactical map effects my fps -10fps and also the cards are producing extra pixels for the second monitor too. It all takes up cpu and gpu resource which in BF4 is hit extremely hard even using a singe monitor at my res and settings.
Run a single 1080p monitor, via Radeon Pro V-sync is set to always on, frame limited to 59fps.
Full ultra settins and 4xmsaa, no super sampling applied.
Game was pegged at 95%+ usage during single player, and peaks at 97% in multiplayer.
Will take screens laters.
Should I upgrade my i5 750 at 4.1ghz?
I've been on the fence about it for a while but always decided to stick with my 750 a bit longer as it runs games fine. But now games like bf4 are out and starting to utilise the cpu more I'm starting to think I'd see a sizeable performance increase.
Would be looking at either a 4670k or 4770k.
Supersampling means you are actually running it at a very high resolution and scaling it down to 1080p. Turning that off alone will probably fix your problems.
That said, your 280x could use a bit of further OC if you want some extra FPS; though it's probably not noticeable in real world use anyway.
You can also OC the CPU, but I am sure that is not the problem.
