BFG 8800GT OC2 constantly locksup and artifacts after 5-10 min of play

Getting a bit worried now, ordered the BFG8800GT OC today, being delivered tomorrow with the rest of my new system. If it doesn't work I don't have another PCI-E card to use :(

Should I be 'expecting' it to lock up or is it still a small percentage?

Well, after ordering my GT on the 8th I googled '8800GT problem' and was shocked with the sheer amount.

Fortunately after having 3 weeks of nightmares thinking my pc won't POST after putting the GT, or that the GT will heat up, or give me artifacts and crashes, none of that happened. Even the fact of people saying that it is noisy, I think a lot of hype was made about nothing (either that or I've got bad ears or a naturally noisy pc, though I do play my games with a lot of sound).

People often post on the net if they have a problem, they don't post saying 'I got a GT and it's running fine' you know... and that's the reason I think that problems are still in a very small minority.

just played crysis with the desk fan away and added another case fan tho it isnt pointing at the GPU and the Gt didnt throw a tantrum

i have this problem with my leadtek 8800 ultra leviathan. seems quite a few people moaning about it on Nvidia forum, im going to send my card back next week if i cant get it sorted, updated bios,drivers, soundcard drivers etc etc and still locks up sound loops so i have to restart, only happens when playing demanding games like crysis, GOW etc bloody annoying

hmm well damn it

it locked up again in gears of war

i was able to play over 3 hours in crysis yet GoW locks up :(

Everest gives a GPU memory temp but I dont know how reliable it is, it says my GPU is 25 but rivatuner says 33, it says my GPU memory is 25 also.

just been watching the GPU core and mem temps and they do change independantly.

ok dloaded everest 2.20 it doesnt give a reading for GPU

the latest version isnt free

and rivatuner just says the core temp
