Advisories do wind me up a bit because I can advise a tyre with 1.8mm on it which by the time the customer has done a short journey will be illegal, but people just look at the pass certificate and don’t worry until next years test.
Same with tyres that are completely bald on the edges and the cords are about to come through, I have to pass and advise.
Drives me potty.

Bet this is fun in the wet. This was in traffic, being used. Not a care in the world.

It's ok, it's 4wd  .

Not the sort of condition one wants their front subframe to be in, considering what's bolted on to it..

The car was owned by a young girl who came in with her grandparents and had just recently passed her test.
I stopped the MOT at this point (no point in charging the MOT fee and continuing) due to how serious it was and the costs involved and explained the problem to them, only to be met with floods (and I mean a tsunami) of tears from the owner :(
We priced it up with parts from our suppliers, and it's unsurprisingly an uneconomical repair.
I can't comment on the owners private life, but after speaking to the grandparents. that car is her life and she'd found her independence owning it.
I've had a nose around and found the subframe a lot cheaper, and will speak to my boss (long time friend) and see if there's anything we can do to get it through the MOT a lot lot cheaper for her.
I usually couldn't give a rats ass about failing a car, but that one hurt a bit as she was so upset.

I often don't agree with your take on things but thats a bloody nice thing to do.
Good on you.

having been out of hospital for a week, went downstairs to receive a phone call from daughter... boyfriends car failed it test.....rear tyre (bulge on inside)
both rear trailing arm bushes worn out.
front parking light out
os front indicator not working
and smoke from exhaust (misting) not excessive.
plus other advisories

13 plate 1.6d focus

apparently according to said daughter the garage that sold them the car 12 months ago must have ripped them off....

i pointed out to her that boyfriend was driving the car daily to work , never spent a penny servicing it, (i even offered to service it for him a few months back and stand the parts cost, but he forgot to bring it).
after a discussion luckily she told the garage to do the repairs, as she didnt want to risk my health with me doing them this time.....ahhh she has a heart.....more than the dozy boyfriend grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

ohh and best bit failed on the 2 headlight bulbs the boyfriend uprated a month ago....fitted upside down.... i kid you not
