Never checking your tyre pressures have that effect!

Stay safe out there people
In times like that you should probably have the ability to report people for presenting vehicles in that kind of state.

It's usually from seat belts that don't retract all the way, and then they get caught in the door latch when the door is shut.

Old C class.
Lowered suspension + worn bushings cause way way too much neg camber, hence the inner wear.

I'm thinking the same thing. It's not difficult to get on your hands and knees to see inside edge or even just to turn your front wheels to check. Granted the older generations would struggle here but I'd back empowering MOT testers to fine people who are evidently ignorant or lazy.

If stopped by the police you'd be fined, so why should it be any different at an MOT?

Ah just realised that tyre has RFT on it, so as its run flat I assume they thought that meant run it till its down to the rim ;)

I would change the law, make a car that passes with no issues an 18 month MOT pass, those with just minor observations 12 months, but those that fail, only give them a 6 month ticket for the MOT so they have to go back 6 months later
It might only mean they check just before that time but at least they check 6 monthly rather than 12 monthly ;)

I like that idea actually, encourages people to actually maintain their car since they get an extra 6 months out of their MOT fee.

Only problem is when you get the advisories like "unable to inspect seatbelt due to child seat" or "couldn't inspect subframe due to plastic undertray", they would have to be ignored

Yes, but I do try and restrain from punching them in the head.
I’ve only flipped at one guy, who when I showed him his tyres starting laughing.
He also said he’d have to use the car daily until he got paid at the end of the month.
His tyres were pretty much the same as any I’ve posted in this thread.
I don’t know if it’s laziness or just general ignorance why people don’t check the basics on their cars.

Nope, it’s not my responsibility (as stated by the DVSA).
I just put a “dangerous” failure on the car, and explain why it shouldn’t be driven, but it’s up to owner whether they heed my advice or not.
