Biffy Clyro - Only Revolutions

I forgot to mention, my boxset came on Friday. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet as I've been a little pre-occupied. I will give it a listen at some point during the week and report back. :)

Awesome album, just like the rest!

Fiancee saw them in Brum last night, said that they were mental and the crowd were up for it.

Wow. Yes a bit commercial but great listening. I like.
I had my first listen through on the tube this morning, Not ideal I know but I'd heard it before. I think it's fantastic. It's better than Puzzle in that it's got better hooks, but it's also more 'Biffy' than Puzzle. In my opinion. There were a couple of great tracks on Puzzle though.

It has to be said that it doesn't sound as heavy as it did live. Almost all of the songs on Only Revolutions sound better with them all screaming the lyrics down the mic!

First listen through and very enjoyable album all round. Sounds great when cranked up volume!!

At lots of people are having a bit of a pop at them for heading in a bit more of a commercial route but at the end of the day if that's the route they want then good on them. It's also likely to be a more main stream commercial success and ultimately make some more cash for them and record company!!! It's a much more easy listen than some of the older stuff, which could be heavy going at times but still very good.

I've been listening to them for years and years now (as i'm great pals with Simon's brother) so i say good luck to them and this is a cracking album that i hope gets the recognition from all concerned.

Well worth a purchase!!

Saw them live at the weekend in Manchester which was immense so might go into town today and pick this up along with COD.

My copy of the album turned up yesterday...at my home address, currently at uni. Fail. :(

But, this time tomorrow I'll be seeing them live :D Had a quick listen through on the myspace link and it's sounding good, can't wait :)

Here's some pics of my boxset for you all to enjoy: :D

Just had a listen and I love it. Definitely worth every penny. :D

And yes, it sounds fantastic cranked up to eleven!

EDIT:

Stand out tracks for me have to be:

Born On A Horse
Many of Horror
Know Your Quarry

Of course, we're all familiar with The Captain, That Golden Rule, and Mountains now, but I really enjoy these songs too.

Bubbles is very catchy, but it does slightly feel a little marketed - similar to what I experienced when I first heard The Captain. However, the more I listen to it - as with The Captain - the more I find that I'm enjoying it. Only time can tell with these things, but the album overall has lived up to my expectations and we all know what a cynical sod I am. ;)

Yep Nix I'm with you on those stand out tracks, I love Bubbles though maybe because Josh Homme plays the guitar solo in it. :D

I'd also add God and Satan. In fact the whole damn album is great. :D

Bubbles is my favorite so far. God & Satan is very good and the 3 singles of course. Can't actually think of a bad track on it actually. I do like the minimalist feel to the CD package. Very classy.

Awesome Album, pre-ordered it and just listening through it now. Going to buy some of his previous albums I think.

Definitely worth a bump this... Bought it yesterday along with the new Moby album and a number of other CDs; none of the rest have even had a look in so far.

Awesome, quite frankly..

Despite being a big fan of the Biffy, I only picked up this album a couple of weeks ago. :o

It's ruddy brilliant and worth it's Mercury Prize nomination.

Also, "I pronounce it aluminium, because there's an I next to the u and m" is THE best opening lyric in a song EVER. :D

I thought I'd say I got to see Biffy a few months ago in London at the Hammersmith Apollo. It was really great to see them again, and the songs did not disappoint live either. My only gripe really was that when Biffy played some of their old stuff like Justboy or Glitter and Trauma, not many people seemed to know the words at all.

It's good that the fan-base is increasing, but it was a bit of a downer that not everyone was singing their hearts out to the classics. :o

I got to see them at Oxegen on the 11th. They were epic as was to be expected, but the crowd was terrible. As you can see:

That song got the most reaction so you can imagine how older tracks fared... :(

Yeah, I was expecting the gig to be teeming with die-hard fans, but it felt like they'd just recently heard them on the radio and went to see the new stuff. I saw them in Plymouth a few years ago now when they supported Bloc Party (around the time Puzzle came out I believe) and the crowd there were much better. Shame really. They're one of the few bands I'd absolutely love to be part of an intimate set. It's a bit rubbish when people are looking at you funny because you know the words to the older stuff too. :p

What can I say? I like having a drink and sing-along. I don't do it that often. :D

...and you've just reminded me that I took a few videos on my old school camera, cleverly disguised as a brick. I must get around to uploading them at some point.
