Normal trainers in my experience don't grip well, I used to slip off the pedals regularly with mine. My current Nike skate shoes are much, much better, even in the wet.

Also, would a normal trainer with a spongy sole (like a running shoe) cause fatigue quicker due to energy being absorbed by the shoe in the same way suspension absorbs energy? Or am I thinking about it too much?

The reason is because the other day I had to wear my trainers because my skate shoes were still wet from a previous ride and I found that I got tired more easily on climbs. It might just have been an off day but it made me think! :D

Good analogy. The soft rubber doesn't transfer the power from your foot to the pedal very well. Meaning more effort for the rider resulting in fatigue. Mountain bike shoes are stiff for a reason.

Never skimp on footwear.

Hey guys. Im in a bit of a desperate situation. Got a 2010 Cube AMS 125 Pro which i bought 1 year ago. Was riding yesterday when suddenly realised there was blatant wobble in my back wheel. After a bit of investigating, realised one of the bolts on the rear pivot of the bottom triangle had popped right out. Managed to find it in the end, but the reason it came out in the first place is because the smaller bolt holding it in must have come out a little while ago.
Any way, some pics to illustrate.

The above 2 are of the bolt itself that i have lost. This one has been taken out of the opposite side

A bit of perspective

I really have no idea what this piece might be. Anyone have any ideas. Is it a generic part or would it be specific? How do i get hold of one or even begin to look. Is getting in touch with Cube the only way?
The cube website is useless, there are no exploded views of the bikes to tell you what the part is, not that i can find anyway?
This potentially could be a nightmare for my riding as i had quite a few rides planned over the coming weeks, so i'd really appreciate any input guys

Thanks:(

Call the shop you got the bike from and they can probably source it as a spare. If not that shop contact freeflow bikes on 0141 630 0021 and they can probably try and help you out.

From what I can see cube distribute themselves in the uk....

Cheers, I'll give that a go and get back on here to let you know how I got on.any other suggestions guys.there must be a generic bolt replacement that would work?

I wouldn't risk using a generic bolt. Just get on to the distributers and tell them you need the horst pivot bolt and there may be some washers you've lost too.

Well i have managed to talk the wumman into letting me take the bike on our family trip away.

We are stopping in Cheadle so not too far away from Cannock Chase so i reckon i might just be able to slip away for a morning and burn off some pent up energy.

I wont have any time restriction so i quite fancy about 4 or 5 hours of riding.

Any tips or advice regarding Cannock?

What is it with me and disc brakes? The rear caliper on my first set exploded, then the reservoir on the front lever started pishing dot4 all over the place so I ordered some Formula Oro Puros direct from Formula which never turned up, needed a set quickly so ordered some XT M775's which turned up this morning, took me hours trying to prize the grips off because Shimano are too stupid to use 2 bolt clamps! Then when I do get it fitted the hoses are about 3 feet too long, which would be fine on most brakes but not on these, now I have to order new bloody olives, barbs and a bleeding kit.

Had an excellent outing last night, up a local hill called Fyrish.
Very steep climb up about 1500 feet to a monument through some very scenic singletrack.
Got my first tast of what proper Downhill must be like on the way back down :D Also notice a huge difference between my Elixir 5 stopping power when compared to my mates stock Juicy 3's.....this resulted in him almost crashing into a downed tree accross a small stretch of fire road on the descent...

For those interested, here is a Link I found that detailed some of the route we took on the way up

A few nice trails in the area I've been told.....Heres hoping :)

I worked in Alness untill about 2 weeks ago and saw that monument every day on the way to work. I'v always wanted to go up there and have a closer look at it - looks interesting! :)
