Interest free credit card might be the way to go in my opinion. When you buy "cash" (instant payment, via credit card also) the majority of bike shops will give you a discount anyway, you just gotta ask for it.

PLus - if you leave your job, you'll have to pay it all bacjk from your last salary.

hehe well my current hardtail is a 19" and it's bang on for me. My previous bike was a 20.5" and felt like I was a kid riding my Dad's bike, far too big and cumbersome.

I tested a Trek Fuel EX8 a while ago too and felt right at home on the 19.5" so I guess I'm just weird

That expression is summed up in this post and the linked thread:

What do people use for navigating routes? I was looking at some of the routes around the Clwyds the other day but wouldn't have a clue how to get around without somekind of map directing me!

I've got an android phone so don't know if theres any apps anybody knows of which I can upload routes to and it'll direct me. I'm really wanting to do some longer routes in different areas but don't want to get lost in the middle of nowhere!

OS Explorer 265. It would probably be easier to use your phones GPS and an app, but I dont do it that way so wouldnt be able to help you there. I prefer a route card and a good old fashioned flyaway map for when I`m truly stumped.

have a look at ridetheclwyds.com for some good routes, though be aware I`ve found some of the directions on their route cards to be downright misleading. Also be prepared for your bike to be covered in Welsh "mud" as a lot of the bridleways lead across sheep/cow pastures.

Apart from that the Clwyds are a great place to ride and tend to be a lot more green and grassy than the rocky trails of the Lakes/Peaks.

A lot of people recommend the Endura Stingrays which allow you to change the lenses but I think you have to buy them separately. The Endura Swords come with 4 interchangeable lenses - http://www.endura.co.uk/Product.aspx?dept_id=138&prod_id=345

Looking like they may be one to check out then. Seem to be highly regarded and do come with the 4 lenses :D. Apparently can also get spare frames and lenses for £5 each, so that's good in case I break them.

Thanks for the suggestion.

My front rotor is slightly bent causing rub. Is it worth trying to get a spare one from Canyon or should I just bend it a bit?

Edit: Stupid question, of course it's worth trying to get another, but is it ok if I bend the one I have?

Just trying to choose my bike size, i'm 5"10 with a 82cm inseam.

That leads me to believe the 53cm CX bike found here:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/...uctId_777735_langId_-1_categoryId_165710#dtab

Is the best one for me to go for.

Or should i go one down to the 'small' 50cm one?

I'm the same size as you and I ride a 17.5" frame. It is a different style of bike but your best bet is to go sit on them and try them out! I spent a while bugging the guys in my LBS to find the right size for me before I bought it! :)

I'll be sure to spend a few hours down there trying them out. Unfortunately apparently they don't ever have the above model on show which is lame, but i'm sure they have some form of CX bike for me to try! Thanks.

Most turbos will work with a mtb. You dont need to spend a lot, have a look on gumtree/ebay/local paper.
You'll need to get a new back tyre. Preferably a turbo trainer specific tyre as it will last longer but any slick tyre will do.

I would muuuuuch rahter just take a crappy road bike, stick some lights on it and put my waterproofs on and hit the road... than find a place in my house to pedal my bike.

In front of the TV you say... riight, because my bike is always clean enough to trapse around the house, my wife will be happy with that! :D

I'v tried that. Bike on turbo, in front of tv, stick a dvd on.
After about 10 mins i forgot all about pedalling and ended up just watching a dvd from an uncomfortable couch.
