A lot of rotors are mounted that way as it helps clear any crap on the pads as they go round.

Quick question if I may:

My much neglected Cube hardtail started to make a jangling noise after my last ride.
I've had the wheel off and noticed part of the brake around the pads was bent and catching the rotor (the brakes are Hayes Stroker Ryde). Can anyone identify the part below so I can replace it please?

It's the spring which goes between the brake pads, it helps push them back out away from the rotor when you release the brakes.

That bit just holds the pads, just buy some new pads and you get that bit with them

I thought the Hayes Stroker Ryde didn't use a spring as the pads where retained by magnets?

They changed it. New versions have spring clip, old versions have magnets.

thats for 25 sets makes it £11.20 a pair a little better but still expensive

you can get organic pads for £5.48 a pair, pad option Y7.

The head tube is only 4" high. Coupled with a zero stack headset I could in theory cut the steerer down to something crazy like 140mm. :eek:

I currently run 2 wheelsets

EN521's with pro 2 hubs and some Mavic EX823 with DT Swiss 240 hubs.

Me being a shade under 11st im thinking of swapping the rims on the 521's for something a little lighter.

Can anyone recommend a decent lightweight rim preferably UST?
