With the amount of money you might spend to save a pound, if the bathroom scale says 30lbs and the proper scale says 30.9lbs , that's a big difference

But you clearly are missing the point, if you are that bothered about weight then you are a weenie and need to buy some proper scales. If you are just interested in what your bike might weigh then bathroom scales are going to give you a perfectly good idea, no one has said that you should use the bathroom scales to weigh your XC carbon whippet prior to the next race.

Ah, ive got a Stinger on my HT all ready, helps deaden the chain from slapping around so much, but thought id need another type of top chain guide? if i dont then its getting removed later tonight as i cant remember the last time i changed to the granny ring at all.

Yes you probably will need a top guide, I ran my Covert with just a stinger for a while and would drop the chain occasionally (lots at Cannock Chase for some reason??), I added an N-Gear jumpstop and have never dropped the chain since. Some people get by with just a top guide as this is where the chain will most likely come off; if it bounces off a bit and you pedal forwards then it'll come off, a bottom one is useful for general security but can also come off if you back pedal over rough stuff.

In other news I had a horrible dream last night: I dreampt I got up late on the morning I would be setting off for the Glentress meet, then my Sat Nav wouldn't work, then someone's house caught on fire across the road, so in the end I wasted like 6 hours (or something) and had to decide whether to still go :p

Went for another ride in Greno Woods today, loved it! Finally did a full day without falling off! :D Still come out with bruises all over, and muddier than my brother (who did fall off). But now there's a rubbing noise coming from the front and back brake, and I have no idea how I go about fixing it, I'm scared of breaking things as well! I suck, might go back to playing on the computer all day.. I know how to fix that! :(

Sounds like you are getting stressed out with the thought of climbing and being left with Ichabod Crane and the long uncomfortable spells of silence.

So how are you guys cleaning your bikes this year after a ride given the hose pipe bans? I gather there are some loopholes like using a hose pipe from a water butt etc. Can one use a portable pressure washer thingy?

No hose pipe ban here. Even if there was I'd still use it, cleaning a bike is going to use less water than having a bath and probably a shower.

Warm water and some brushes are all you need, maybe some muc-off if you're feeling luxurious.

One might think about how one would fill up ones portable pressure washer before one might ask such a question..:p

Im sure your master of the house will advice you the correct way to wash the bike..

Just bucket of water with bike cleaner and then hose the bike down when the neighbours are out is my plan.....

pretty sure all the leaked pipes we have in London is wasting more than the water i going to wate on my bike;)

Normally after a ride round my mates we just hose the bikes off to get the main muck off which is quick and effective. Not sure what we are going to do this year with the ban. Get very dirty cars transporting our bikes after a ride I guess. Unless we do just get a bucket of water and sponge and wash them down. But then rinsing them off without a hose requires more effort. I'll probably just not wash it till September ;)

Stuck a big order in with CRC today, $40 off when spending more than $275. Even better when buying with no VAT.

Hope Logo Waterbottle - Large - 800ml
X-Tools Pro Tyre Lever Set - 2 Piece
Shimano Dry Lube - 100ml
Schwalbe Road Tube - 700 x 18-28 Presta
Lezyne Classic Floor Drive Pump - Black - 160psi
Lezyne Road Drive Mini Pump - Medium - 160psi - White
Endura Hummvee Baggy Shorts inc Liner - Large - Olive
Cratoni Skywalker Sunglasses - Each - Brown Glossy

I've somehow managed without a pump for the garage, and I bought the other pocket pump as it is rated to higher pressure than my topeak one. All the Lezyne pumps seem to get good reviews and raved about their build quality...

The shorts got great reviews, I wanted some proper MTB ones, decided I had been using my board style shorts far too long.

Then I was trying to make it up to $275, hence the smaller items, and bought the sunglasses on a whim, if they are no good for cycling ill wear them in the car or something instead after I sat on my others.

As for the road inner tube, shhhhhhh ;)
