Didn't go cannock in the end went with the missus to hicks lodge in Leicestershire. More of a family trail but still got to have a go. Had a great time but really left me dying to try something a little more exciting. :)

The first ride out on mine was similar, it was quite tame and also in the snow ice so I had to hold back a bit.

Yesterday at Llandegla was really good fun, I'm starting to learn how hard I can push, coming from a hardtail I'm used to reigning back the speed on technical descents but with this I can just let fly, each ride I'm pushing a little bit harder. There's also a lot more grip in fast corners which inspires confidence, again I'm learning just how quick I can go without going rubber side up :p I was out again today around Macc Forest and had a great time despite the fog/rain/wind etc.

It's all about the huge grin at the bottom of each descent!

The bike is looking awesome itchyballs.
The stem has to die a death though - please... questionable decision on the gearing too, but hey ho ... I've seen your legs, can't blame you.

Right, think my shifters have finally died after almost 4 years of very little maintenance, currently running Sram X9, is it worth spending the extra on x0, and also what cables should I get, was looking at the Jagwire stuff so I can continue my colour coding, any other suggestions?

Are you? Really? I think the range is nice but only really a realistic option when the tech had tricked down.

Yeah a 10-42 cassette and a 30t ring, will give near identical ratios to a 11-34 cassette and a 22/36t ring combo. The 10 and 30 gives a ratio of 3 verses the 3.2 of the 11 and 36, 42 and 30 gives 0.71 versus the 0.64 of the 34 and 22. But i have been managed to not use the 34 on the back and only the 30 so low end is no problem, and its not a big deal loosing 0.2 on the top end.

Agree its still daft money, plus i would like to wait untill someone makes some compatible cranks im not swapping to SRAM cranks with GXP.

Jonny ///M - looks good up there - tempted to head up in next week or so for a gander. Only thing I've seen a couple of people say is that line in your 1st picture with 3 options - there is bugger all run out at the bottom for the big rocks line if you know what i mean- it's like a right angle at the bottom.

also you endomondo is private so no one can see it.

Aye the first one I decided against, I went middle and in todays weather just about stopped in time!

A couple of other spots I'd say were too tight but maybe in the dry it would be easier.

The first bit of tracks you hit is reallyyyyyyy muddy around the wind turbine they are building but you get onto the trail further along and hit the start of the good bits.

Will adjust the endomondo. The bit after the straight from the carp park is a little detour compared to the satelite image if you look. That's the wind turbine bit.

The last pic you come toward the bottom of the climb and it's like a right angle and vertical. I had no chance with a 36-34 as my easiest gear. The section in the second pic is a climb, again it has some steep parts on it.

Received the al+ 8.0 last week posted Tuesday morning was at my door 9am Thursday couldn't believe it. Had it in medium comes up same size as my giant anthem medium if that helps.

Im riding a 19" rockhopper atm but im unsure about my size for the canyon.

I have a Lovely Canyon CF SLX road bike(i know its expensive lol)
But its a 59cm frame i believe and its quite big but ok for road rides.

Im not sure how the Medium canyon would compare to the 19" rockhopper, as im worried about getting too large..

Doubt it will be light enough for a ride after work any day soon so most likely a Sunday again. Will be epic in the summer when I can leave work, ride there and then ride home.

Whats wrong with the stem, it is just a Hope one

Maybe it's your rubbish photog skills, but the stem looks like it has a really narrow clamping area (makes ze barz flex).

I didn't realise they were hope actually - they looked like ones my mate had before (think they were Diety) which were super flexy.

Just enquired about a Cotic Bfe frame and it will be doable in the future. Get it with the nukeproof headset fitted or get myself a hope ones maybe. Use the Rebas I have for now and go for a double upfront as 36t single is killer when not fit.

I think green is the best colour for it :)
