Just trying to let a little fluid out of the system as the brake is pretty much 'on' all the time, very little movement of the pads to the disc when applying the brake.

Sorry mate, it's all in posts on the previous page!

Avid Elixir 1, rear brake rubbing to the point where wheel only spins once/twice. Tried re-aligning pads, pushed pistons back in etc but it feels like there's too much fluid in the system, the brake lever doesn't bite, feels like it's already in contact with the disc when pulled.

Few people have suggested letting a bit of fluid out to see if it helps - see previous page.

Ok, so: loosen bleed port on lever > push pistons back > tighten bleed port > test?

I had to do let fluid out of my elixir 5's quite often, its easy to do just take off your wheel, loosen the bleed screw on the lever enough to just let fluid drip out slow (dont take the screw completely out), lever the pistons back in by wedging a dinner knife/tyre lever between the pads and you should get a tiny amount of fluid drip from the lever bleed port (literally a drop).

Old style avids are terrible for it, always happened to me on the 5's. Get a set of shimano deore brakes, probably around £80 the set.

ditch the avids, get some shimanos. Sorted.

It's what I done in the end, too many issues with my Juicys. Put Shimanos on and yep no issues.
Thanks for the info. Gonna try to sort the Avids before replacing them, but I've seen Deore brakes on CRC for £70 a set so that's probably the next option.

Presumably they'll work on the Avid rotors? Can you adjust pads on the Deores?

so about £30 all in. thats much nicer to swallow.

dont suppose anyone know what the Flows non-EX width is off the top of their head?
