not really sure what sort of gearing to go for, whether the range expander is a good idea?
How so - the stealth versions have a clever clippymebop, allowing you to take the hose off with ease.
I have a Hope 40T Cassette Expander on my XT 11-36 Cassette. Swapped out the 17T for it. I'm using a 32T middle.
I only use it on very steep climbs, HeartBreak Hill at kirroughtree for example.
SLX 10 speed double has a 104 BoltCircleCheck that your crankset can take a 104 BCD 32T ring, doubles tend to have weird BCD's.
