Comes with a 32 up front, I didnt really pay much attention to the 1x11 setup to be honest and didnt realise it was a massive 42t on the rear..

I've always really really wanted a Commencal bike, don't know why. Yours is the perfect colour too, but I'm a lanky tw@ and would need a large :( I'd hve to sell the Intense anyway if I was to have another bike and I love that.

I'm after a clutch rear mech, narrow/wide ring, cassette and chain (10spd) to go on the Intense. And a dropper for the Shan really... Cow/Knifey, who's got what? :D

Scroll up a bit/prev page..

XT cassette, XT chain, hope narrow wide, hope extender (if required). Crc prices up there/prev page. Just ordered that lot and a XT shifter and didn't have any change from 170.

Already been running a SLX shadow plus and not been disappointed.

Edit - ah I see you mean off of those two splitting bikes.. Derp.

So I've just spent some time tweaking my RS Pike Fork.
Installed a bottomless token to help the fork stroke at the end of the travel, seems to work pretty well.

This chart shows how they work

if my understanding is correct, it reduces the volume of air in the chamber?

Yep.
I just had to look it up because i thought they were just rubber bump-stops to stop the fork bottoming out so hard. I couldnt understand why they were having an effect on the whole range of travel and not just the end.
Makes sense now.

Fill your mouth full of air then press your cheeks in (either with finger, or even just trying to suck themselves in) and feel how they progressively they get stiffer. Simples.

Yes, I understand why air shocks have the progression curve that they do.
I thought the bottomless tokens were just to stop the metal-against-metal of a fork bottoming out, like bump-stops on car suspension.
Now i realise that they are not bump-stops, i understand why they effect the entire range of the progression curve.

Question about inner tube valves that don't fit:

On Tuesday I had a puncture and limped home so I removed the inner tube, got a replacement but found that it wouldn't go through the wheel valve hole!
Luckily I did find one that fitted but I've got about 5 spare tubes that don't fit OR WILL THEY?

Anybody else had this problem, do you file a bit off the rubber around the valve to make it fit or could I make the wheel hole bigger?

Stock photos but original on the left and the ones that don't fit on the right (there's probably a mm in it)

Hi all,

Just bought some new tyres the other day, and was telling my friend about them who is a bit of a physics buff, he showed me this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cB8GNQuyMPc

Firstly, its a very simple experiment and it broke my brain slightly, but more importantly it demonstrated two things, a lighter tyre should indeed aid faster travel ie less effort to maintain the same speed, but very strangely prove without doubt that the overall weight of a wheel makes absolutely no difference!!

Thoughts? it spurred quite a bit of discussion so I'm keen to see what others think.

I can't watch the video at the moment - but my understanding / opinion (however misinformed it may be) is that yes - tyres make a big difference in the acceleration of the wheel, however top speeds will be the same (in theory, removing the possibility of real world issues such as punctures and stability)

Overall weight of the wheel makes a big difference in the handling of the bike, particularly whilst in the air.

The sciencing in test scenarios do not account for al the real world variables.
