ichabod crane, how did you find Sundays ride and are you still meeting up with us on Sat?

Havent had chance to post up on the Bike radar forum yet, had a fun time on sunday! Even though I was a little slow I generally ride on my own so go at my preferred pace but yes it was very enjoyable and you have some descent riding on your doorstep which is nice; its flat here!!!!

I should be along on Saturday, I do have trips to Dalby tomorrow night and Sunday with my club but will make my best effort for Sat.

I can get a full XTR groupset out here brand new for around £700. Do you think this is a good deal for my future build? I know that the XTR drivetrain is superb, but Im unsure of how the crankset and brakes compare to other similar priced manufacturers such as Hope, etc.

Hello
New to the thread, and site for that matter.
Getting back into the saddle of which I need a new one. Looked around and like both the trek 4300 disc and the Giant Talon 2.5 or 3. any views would be welcomed

Go for it, as far as I know there isn't a single component in the current XTR groupset that underperforms when compared to other brands.

The crankset is arguably the best you can buy for XC/light all-mountain and the brakes are top notch too.

I'm not a fan of the dual-control levers myself but that's down to preference.

Crap pick of one of my favourite tracks "Run of the mill" - sheer drop on the side with nothing to catch you - only catch berms!

The tyres are so good, my old ones must have bin slower due to worn down I went out did 22 miles @ 20.8mph avg today.

Just had my first

Get used to it. I still do it every so often, even though it's been ages since I started using SPD's. :p

You feel like a complete twonk at the time but as you said, afterwards, looking back on it, it's pretty funny.

Your ankle is likely to be worn out and your foot may fall off, seek medical attention :(

sould like its comin from the bearing were the pedals and frame join.

edit*
