is in the running now :(. This is too hard! this carrera has the Rebas, good front and rear deraileurs and of course, the carbon fibre frame. In total bike wieght, the cube, rockhopper and this one are very similar. the rockhopper being perhaps slightly heavier.

I've been to see the carrera titan and the rockhopper now and both are very nice. wish i could see the cube :(. the carrera had quite wide handlebars but thats easily changeable.

this is getting too hard!

Edit: on a side note, while i was in halfords speaking to a member of staff he recieved a web order from a man called Mr William Wonka :)

Yes, I would stay away from that Carrera.

Keeping on the Halfords theme, have you checked out the Boardman Pro? Great spec for the money. Selling out fast. Its another story similar to the Carrera though, for the little money they are asking for a bike with that spec, whats the frame like? Would it withstand abit of abuse? :p

Pretty poor spec on that for £1000!! go with a cube or something similar. Stay away from that.

Yup they seem to have skimped on the whell rims.
The wheels in the picture are Mavic Crossrides which are pretty decent. You need to pay £2k to get them on a Scott Hardtail.

If you buy the bike make sure you get it checked it over by a reputable bike shop, Halfords built stuff can be a bit ropey.

can anyone find anywhere with the cube ltd race 2009 in stock? having made my mind up i went to find it but can't :(. I'm not fussy about colour but i need the 18 inch frame.

edit: found this: http://www.cubecycles.co.uk/index.asp?pageid=59809 but it looks like a bit of a dodgy website? what do you think?

That cube cycles site is quite poor and I wouldn't buy from them personally...

I was going to order from from below site last week, they had one in stock in the company but as I said I haven't got the funds yet.

There are loads of other places to buy them but not for under £1k

The Cube Bikes website is just a separate online front of Square Wheels; it's the same shop, just a different website.

It's where I got my LTD CC from; they're a really nice bunch and well worth buying from. So nice, in fact, that when I got my LTD CC and the stem was too long, they told me to just package it up and send it back, which I did, and they then sent me a Syntace F119 as a replacement, which is worth £90 (as opposed to £30 for the original Easton EA30) :D

Also, I'm currently having some problems with the calliper alignment on my bike, and they've said that rather than sending it back up there, it'd be easier for both of us if I just get a local shop to sort it out and they'll reimburse me for it all, as it's covered by warranty. So yeah, they're top blokes :)

hmmm i noticed those sites that have it at the RRP. they also have it in blue/white which i'd prefer... do you reckon these sites would reduce their price when the 2010 models come into stock? anyone know when the 2010 range is going to be available?

AFAIK the 2010 Cube models aren't available until 2010 (though I could be wrong).

I remember now that someone got a Ltd CC from there but couldn't remember who it was, though I knew you had just got one Inquisitor.

yer averagejoe, if they are based in Scotland it may be worth giving them a shot. Still the site is pants though :p

hmm i've sent an email to the store up near inverness to confirm they have the stock.

ROB75, cheers for giving me a link to that other site, that was good of you :) (also they don't take maestro and my mastercard has a £500 limit! :p )

Pads look fine to me. Its normal for stuff to build up in the pitted areas. Give them a clean with isopropyl alcohol if you want.

i doubt its your pads that are causing the problems with your brakes. Sounds to me like they are leaking (im assuming they are hydraulic). Is there any noticeable fluid leaks from the levers or calipers? Try bleeding them and see if the same thing happens again.

Not that I've noticed. The bike's only a couple of weeks old, and I haven't really put it through its paces yet either.

I guess the performance issue might just be because I've been playing with the brakes trying to eliminate the rub, and have pushed the pistons out/reseated the pads. I'll take it for a spin tomorrow and see if it settles down.
