Are howitzer BBs hard to install? :p

edit also:

Anyone know whether you can get http://media.raleigh.co.uk/panda/large/RBR606.jpg style "bashguards" for my 44-32-22 (ish I think) Truvativ isoflow things.

Not to protect the chains, but to protect my legs and stop jeans getting caught in as I'll have to commute to uni on the bike this year.

Cheers.

I had an old raleigh one but it didn't fit sadly..

Actually, also do any mudguards actually work other than full wheel ones? Little bit of forest riding to get to uni and don't want to be too dirty in lectures :o

Went for a ride this evening and had my first crash. Yay! :D

Drove up to Carsington to test out the cycle carrier with 2 bikes (in preparation for first trip to Cannock this weekend, hopefully) and having never cycled round it before I misjudged a sharp corner on loose gravel at high speed. I thought I did rather well because at the split second where you think **** I'm going to crash into that tree I bailed and slid along my left side into some stinging nettles. Cue my friend Chris laughing his ass off at me. I have to say it was funny though. Apart from my legs stinging like a mofo there is no other damage to myself or more importantly the bike :D

Haha get used to that :D

I'll fall off my bike 4-6 times in an average week (riding a minimum of 6 days a week).
When i go out on my downhill bike its not a question of "will i crash?", its more "how many times will i crash?". Riding xc is safer but i probably fall off it every second ride. Even managed to lose it on my road bike, sliding off the road during the Bealach Mor sportif at the weekend :D

...hmmm having just re-read what i'v written it seems quite bad :o is it normal to fall off so much? I'v finished my summer job and am waiting to go back to uni now so i have nothing to do and therefor am on my bike a LOT so maybe its not too bad?

Not that I've noticed. The bike's only a couple of weeks old, and I haven't really put it through its paces yet either.

I guess the performance issue might just be because I've been playing with the brakes trying to eliminate the rub, and have pushed the pistons out/reseated the pads. I'll take it for a spin tomorrow and see if it settles down.

The rasping seems to have stopped now, but the modulation is still a bit screwy on the front brake (at least compared to the back). There's still not much feedback until the lever's all the way back :/

I dont have an answer to your question, but if it's any consolation, I have parts of the local DH tracks named after me now.

People actually refer to "Deon's corner" etc, just so that when you talk about the run, everyone knows exactly where you are talking about

this was from my last off at said corner

I WILL FIND A WAY TO STRAIGHT LINE IT THROUGH THERE! :D

Falling off strangely makes you feel really good...? I fully expect to fall off several times on Saturday whilst doing Follow The Dog at Cannock. :D

Also hoping to have my new bike by then too..

I've gotta try out some of these trails. I live in Birmingham and work in Cannock (when I'm not at uni), so I'm fairly well placed to just jump on a train with the bike :)

How long is Follow the Dog?
