Just for starters, there's loads more that I cant think of!

160mm AM bike might be ok, but will be a real drag if you're doing a lot of "trekking/rambling" on it.

I just did a search and found a post from Draeger in Jan 09 that had a relevant picture, so I thought I'd post it:

This is what I've just bought (second hand):

Lovely S1 there mate, how much did that rush you?. Those PlanetX SL Carbons are an absolute steal at that price!.

Got my Cube Acid built up this morning, not long back from a quick run on it on a wee 20 mile training loop I usually do on the Pinarello. This being my first MTB I was surprised just how much hard work it was on the road compared to the roadbike. That said of course, the Acid isn't meant for roads obviously. Looking forward to getting up on the trails with it soon. Can anyone who rides Carron Valley recommend a few shortish routes to begin with?. It's about a 10 minute drive from me so think I will give that a bash first.

As I said, being a "roadie" these new MTB fangled things are alien to me so I have a good few questions about to come your way, mudpluggers!!. :D

The Cube really is stunning in the flesh. The paint looks a mile deep and the overall finish is superb.

Some crappy iPhone pics I took about halfway round my first run today :-

Under £750. It's and 09 with Ultegra SL groupset. It's been properly used for training and racing and so has some miles on it, but provided it's been properly maintained I'd only expect to be looking at cassette, chain and chainrings having general wear and tear, possibly sprockets on the rear derailluer.

Anyway, with the identical 2010 model (absolutely no changes, not even the paintwork) going for around £2500 any my local Cervelo stockist I don't think I'm doing too bad. Even if the worst comes to the worst Merlin Cycles have a complete Ultegra SL groupset (6600) for under £450.

Just hope it fits, but I'm pretty confident it will.

Edit: Not my cup of tea, but that Cube looks sweet.

Planet X have lauched their new website and Nano Light road bike today, which means they've got SL Carbons with Dura Ace or SRAM Red for £1499.

Bargain!

Theyve had those SKUs for a while mate, they had 7800 equpped ones for 1299 or something too but sold out quickly.

They have upped the price of their Ultegra 6700 models by £100 and looks like there is no 105 £899 build anymore.

Nano frame looks nice, 920g!

Really? I looked last week and I could have sworn the dura and reds were £1999. PX prices go up and down like a yo-yo.

Nice one, Ultegra SL is awesome. I just finished fitting it to my commuter in full, it's great.

You can pick up some of the parts for nice prices, £109 for the crankset at Evans for one, they had the brakeset for £50 at Merlin, apparently Madison have lowered their prices recently for Shimano.

Anyone got any tips/guides for fitting bar ends?.

I grabbed a pair of Cube RFR's on Chain Reaction but having looked into fitting them, it looks a bit tricky. Do you cut the grips or just move them further in and lop the end off then fit end plugs?. Any tips?.

Is it really that big a leap from 105? That's what I've got on the Ribble and I find it good.

Whatever suits you, or that you have space for. Either way will work.

how far can i push my hardtail?
at the moment im doing xc but quite like doing some downhill stuff, on monday i was out at the gully monster trails (whiteash fochabers on the freeride section) and some of the man made sections i just couldn't see how a hardtail would cope?
likes of this section http://www.moredirt.co.uk/trail_photo.php?id=1090

and this http://www.moredirt.co.uk/trail_photo.php?id=398
am i being a chicken ?
the first one the angle appeared to be too steep to tackle and felt that the front wheel would hit hard and i would go over the handlebars?
edit: after watching the vids it appears that i'm supposed to jump off of the drops
as for the berms and other sections i got on quite well with the hard tail
has anyone else been on the freeride section? and can they give me advice on how to tackle the steep roll offs or drops?

A hardtail is fine on that, even a lightweight XC rig, weight back and a small wheely drop if you're going slowly. If you're going fast you won't even notice it.

yeah after watching a few vids they make it look easy im going back again tomorrow so hopefully i can build up the courage to try it out
guess ill change back to my flats as i dont fancy trying that on spd's :(

You dont need bar ends? you grips have closed ends  You only need bar ends with an open grip like a lock on.
