New Brakes arrived. These things are huge compared to the Mono M4s!

Yumm i do love hope stuff.. I wish i had a pair of Mono M4's again :(

I've always loved my Raji's. The most comfertable glove I've owned. Mine seem to wear out quite fast though.

Trying some TLD ones at the moment with a bit more finger protection after I unnecessarily cut my finger on a tiny fall.

Hi guys, do you reckon a full face helmet like the Sixsixone Strike (which I can get for £40 at my LBS just now) is overkill for downhill trail riding? Specifically the Golspie Wildcat red and black runs.
Also planning some SixSixone Race knee and elbow guards after a nasty crash I had there last week.
I tend to tackle the run quite hard and fast. Currently just using a Giro open face job, no other padding

No :) Safety is paramount. You wear as much armour/protection as you want. Don't be put off if others doing the same kind of riding as you don't wear as much as you do.

I'd rather have a face full of teeth left than be picking them up off the ground. Wouldn't you ? :D

not sure what downhill trail riding is, but if you mean downhill, then of course a full face is advised.

Some of my pals have been up there and don't ride full face but you won't look like a pillock with one on.

I might be going up there next week. Looks good.

Cheers for the glove suggestions folks. Will defo look at 661's. :)

Just another plug for the 661 Comps. They are very good, comfortable and hard wearing, I even used mine on building sites during the winter period and are still in a good enough condition to go riding with. Can be had for £20 at Halfords.

You will love the Wildcat. It is without doubt the best DH run I have ever been on.
Part of me thinks it would be awesome to have a 100% Red grade route right from the top instead of the Black start....just for the sheer speed and length of decent involved :D

Wildcat is an XC trail. Looks good fun.

See plenty of people riding XC trail centres and even natural XC in full face. Not my choice, I imagine you'd sweat your ******** off on the way up, but wear whatever you feel comfortable with.

Hey, in South England the Wildcat XC trail would be classed as Downhill. :p

There are only 2 XC trails I have found where I would ride full face...Laggan Black and Nevis Red, none in Wales, none in England. Remember...chicks dig scars! ;)
