X.0 twist shifters are great on my XC race bike, SRAM really need to release some for the XX groupo. I've got normal triggers on my big bike though.

Some people will mod 9speed shifters to 10speed for you at a price. IIRC Peaty runs 10speed black box X0 twist shifters with XX.

Maybe it won't be too long before SRAM release it for everyone else.

Does anyone suffer or suffered from numb feet when cycling? I do :(

I used to get it mildly when I just used to wear trainers after a long ride. Then I bought some Specialized shoes that supposedly help eliminate it, but they actually made it worse and when wearing them get it within 10 minutes of riding.

Any advice on buying something that will sort it such as pedals and/or specific shoes? I've tried altering foot position on the pedals and it doesn't help.

Whilst I'm at it, can anyone recommend a comfortable seat? The one on my Focus is an arse breaker quite frankly :D

As it's happening after only 10 minutes it's unlikely it's the temperature I imagine? Are you clipped in? Trying flats if you are may help or just a different type of pedal.

Something like a basic flat pedal would be a decent place to start, Wellgo MG-1s are popular and cheap so maybe give those a try?

Saddles are completely personal, some bike shops can measure your sit bones (you sit on a foam imprint and they measure it), with this measurement you can choose more wisely although you can never really tell until you've sat on the thing for a few hours. I think some shops let you try out a saddle then swap it if you're not happy, it'd be worth having a google.

You using SPD's?. Check your float angle. Might need tweaking. Also, flex your feet inside your shoes every so often as you are riding, really helps.

Road or MTB?. I had a Fizik Arione on my Pinarello FP1 a few months back but despite the "rave reviews" they get, it was like sitting on a razor blade. :p

Swapped it for a Specialized Alias 143 and it is the most comfortable saddle I have used to date. Get measured for it though, they come in different widths. ;)

I'm using flats but reading about it, it doesn't appear its a pedal problem, more foot position putting pressure on a nerve.

I do flex my toes quite often and move my feet about, it doesn't stop it.

It's a Focus MTB and that saddle looks decent and it looks more comfortable than mine. I'll visit my LBS tomorrow and see if they stock them.

If you feel your feet are going numb and your seat is digging into you awkwardly maybe you're restricting blood flow to your feet? (I dont know anything about arteries in the leg so could be wrong)
I wouldnt think that pressuring a nerve would lead to a numb foot in less than 10 mins, especially considering that on flat pedals you only push through your foot 50% of the time.
Is it your whole foot going numb?
Have you tried using toe clips or something to keep your foot in a good position over the pedal?

The seat on my old bike was very confortable compared to my new one but the numbness in my feet is the same with both. The only thing I haven't tried is moving the seat position on either bike. I will try it but my current seat is going. It hurts my arse after an hour :p

This is really weird. I also experienced a numb left foot after a 6 mile ride today but have never had it before. I put a new seat post on today as my old one was way too short and there wasn't much of it in the frame so i reckon it could well be a seat issue as today my seat was higher than it's ever been and it is quite likely as you say, restricted blood flow. Perhaps the seat is a little too high or angle needs adjusting.

Twist shifters? This on the Vagrant?
Yep, I was a bit dubious at first, but after trying them out I'm convinced. Shifting is faster and smoother (even with my old x.7 rear mech) and I can grab a load for a sudden steep climb of fast downhill.
I had a quick ride on my mate's bike with triggers this evening and they just felt wrong.

I shouldn't get too attached, soon I'll be riding a Diamondback Mojito. :D

Just got back from a ride over in Afan with a work mate.
A nice 12mile ride, took a bit of a detour and had a good laugh.
Lovely evening for it too - NO wind, and a bit of sun.

Pot noodle time !! :D

Is anyone doing the London Bikeathon in June this year or has done before? We've got a group of 10, perhaps a few more, doing a 26 mile route and we'll probably all ride together. I'll be getting myself a Camelbak but I was wondering how frequent the refreshment stations usually are.

My whole foot doesn't go numb, just the ball and toes.
Could be your foot position then. The ball of your foot should be directly above the axle of the pedal, like this:
FootPosition.gif

edit: actually, that picture is a bit misleading. It shows a clipless pedal with a cleat on your shoe. The ball of the foot is still above the axle (dashed red line shows this) but the pedal body is not symmetrical so it looks very far forwards.
