After looking around, this fork has caught my eye the most. The travel is adjustable between 85-130mm, which should be useful for finding the best amount of travel for my bike.

RockShox Revelation 426 Coil U-Turn

Does anyone know if it will be suitable?

Those revelations look just like a pike. The pikes only seem to have a 20mm axle which you dont want due to having to get new hubs n stuff and a steel steerer for extra beefiness. From what i heard from the pikes they were very good forks and used for lots of 4x racing.

aslong as you aint hardcore i would say the revelations would be fine.

What home pump do people here use? I notice my tires have deflated a bit since i got the bike. It used to be rock hard now its kinda soft, tried pumping it with a mini pump but it doesn't seem to inflate it that much and its really hard work.

Joe Blow here as well. Order it online because when you buy it form a shop they have a pre-arranged snigger when you ask for it. :(

A compact pump should easily get your tyres to 40psi, just takes a bit more effort than with a floor pump. Just how hard are you trying to inflate them?

May be I am connecting it wrong or something then, because the psi is like 40 already but if I squeese the tires with my hand it's not hard like it used to.

Make sure you push the pump onto the valve hard enough that it pushes the pin down or you will get nowehre. I use the blow joe at work and its pretty good. Right now due to how fast we need to work we just whack the compressor on and work on another part of the bike. :D

I got the Cranks Brother's mini pump, it's just very tiring and very hard to get it off too.

You need to **** more, tis in the wrist action. :D

With 2.3" and 2.5" tyres.....i find its ok with my crank brothers up to about 20-25psi. Anything higher is pointless since i will just ride with 25psi to get to the garage or work and put them harder.

That kinda makes the pump a little pointless though, as it's a pump you're meant to take with you, but if you're riding DH you're not going to care (I've heard of some people riding on empty before now lol) and if you're riding XC, 30 psi isn't going to get you anywhere ;).

There was a time i was running 25psi in my high rollers  how i managed to get anywhere i dont know.

Right now i run 40-45psi in my brothers 2.5" tyres cause they are on a not so wide rim so can roll a bit if not hard.

The pump SHOULD be able to go to 40psi once you switch to high pressure mode,my mate has done it before(hes 17 stone so cant really use the 25psi thing).

While im in here......can anybody recomend any ~7" travel freeride frames? Still cant decide what i want to go for. I would happily spend £500-600 on a new bighit/stinky frame or a second hand better frame. I like how my brothers bike feels justnow as it has quite a short top tube and quite nice headangle.

This is it here.

Around when do shops typically start discounting last year's models? I'm in the market for a bike atm; I'll hold off until January if it means saving a few quid, but I can't be arsed to wait until February or March. Cheers

It's usually August/September when new models comes out in a yearly cycle for Specialized and Giant, thou Giant seems to update/release some bikes every 6 months as well.

So best time to get last year's model would be in the summer, you'll have to wait ages for the next one :p
