£15 a brake is about the average price.
That's not too bad actually, was expecting worse.
They might just need the old zip tie your brake lever to the bar and leave over night trick. If that doesn't work you could bleed the brakes yourself. Hope's are easy to work on. All you need is some 8mm hose for the bleed nipple, a bucket to collect the old oil and a sryringe to fill the brake with oil. It only takes 10minutes.
I'd rather get a Pro to do it to be honest, my past record in bike maintenance is less than impressive.

How about the 4yr old pads?

A couple of pics from the top of Wharncliffe yesterday, some nice views up here:

Lol, that's top of the Crag's. If you'd gone left from where those pics are facing you'd have gone through a farm gate and back to the car park, saved you about an hour :D

Ouch that's nasty! I didn't realise the standard nanotechs were magnesium. Have you spoken to Superstar about it?
Nah, don't expect them to do much since it's my fault for bashing a rock, not like they were faulty.

:( I thought if I went 'just a bit further' I'd get to some awesome singletrack.... never happened :p

Oh yeah before I got to the crags I pretty much hit a crossroad and had a proper look-this-way-and-that cliche moment :p Guess I should have gone right like I suspected.

Just a quick question. I'm having a little problem with my gears. When shifting to a higher gear on the cassette when riding, the pedals feel loose for an instant and there's a loud clunking sound as the chain goes onto the next cog. I've tried adjusting the cable tension and although i do get into the next gear, the poor shifting is really annoying. It's a Deore 9 speed cassette btw. Any ideas please?

Sounds like it could be a worn chain or rear mech needs adjusting to give more space between the jockey wheel and cassette.

Thanks. The chain is fairly new so i guess it's the mech that needs adjusting. Is it something that's easy to do myself or should i get someone who really knows what they're doing to adjust it?

It's easy to sort yourself. I take it you have put the gears into the middle at the front and set the high and low limiters of the rear mech? The mech cage should line up perfectly with the chain/cogs. Also check the rear mech position so there is 5-6mm of space between the jockey wheel and small cogs.

Not exactly the bikes this thread was designed for.. but bought myself a CR-F 450 today :D Cant wait to get out to the local tracks and give it hell (or give me hell?) Playing it safe and not touching it till after france!!

Thanks. I'll have a go at it this evening. If i fail, the Evans mechanics are going to be at the bikeathon early tomorrow morning so i'll ask them to sort it. Being a sponsor, their labour charge is free.

I've always wanted a Moto-x bike but I just know I'd be stupid and it would be a one way ticket to certain death :D

+ Running maintaining it would probably bankrupt me :(

quick ? guys, got some rockshox tora 302's on the way to replace my knackered suntours and was wondering what shock pump you recommend?
looking at either a topeak pocket shock dxg or the raleigh precision ?

should mention they are the solo air toras :)

Did 11 miles at Dalby today on my New Reign 2, was struggling at first on the climbs as its very different from pedaling a hardtail.

But as soon as their is a slight downhill the speed that it picked up is unreal, was very impressed with it and can't believe its taken me this long to get a FS bike.

Also my Zocchi 44 TST2's seam to be fine, no metal knocking on these bad boys.
