Got this handed to me today. Somehow the guy has managed to crack the seat tower where it meets the top tube. Having to swap it over onto a riddley frame for him.

It was quite lush looking.

Any one got any advice on running a Double Chain device and if so what brand ?

Its for a Giant Reign 2 2009 with no IG tabs ?

I seam to have an issue where the chain comes off and then gets wedged between the rear shock pivot arm and the frame, and you gotta get off and sort it out my hand.

So its mainly to protect the frame and to stop the chain coming off for a start. I don't really know if I'd need a bash guard.

I don't really use the outer ring so was going to ditch it.

I've seen a E13 DRS but they ain't cheap, and is this what I need ?
Any suggestions are welcome, :)

Or should I dust the DCD off I found in my old parts bin for the retro appeal !

ive got a Blackspire Stinger on my Hardtail, seems to do the job - havent had my chain drop since putting it on and no chain slap, dont really need the double type chainguide/tensioners as the front mech stops that part..although im sure someone will have a different view as is always the case. Also im running double and bash combo.

I assume you just fix this behind your external BB shell ?
Also what holds it in place and stops it rotating apart from you BB being tight ?

Thats it pretty much, thing doesnt move a mm once you have tightened it, i suspect if it ever was clouted by a rock or root (hard to see how with the bash) it may move up, but under general use there isnt enough load to move it, after all its only got a chain running on the roller..

I have been thinking about this also and like you think that a BB mounted device may be a little weak or easily moved! And I havent really looked any further into it may have a google today :)

Has anyone got any good suggestions for keeping bikes safe from theft at home, picking up my first bike in a long time tomorrow and it will be stored in a concrete shed that is joined to the house, the lock is quite old fashioned so it may not keep anyone out for very long. My first thought is to get a decent anchor point and lock but is there any other ideas or suggestions for products?

If your keeping it in the shed you going to need a better lock or an anchor point there isn't much else you can do maybe fit an alarm to the shed? But an anchor point one in the floor and one in the wall with a series of chains makes a pretty sufficient deterrent!

Good suggestions, York is a nightmare for Bike theft, my Mates Marin Wolfridge and Claud Butler walked from inside his garage a few weeks back. Break in at 4 in the afternoon on a quiet cul-de-sac.

We have suspicions about the paper boys as they've been drooling over the replacement and my bike when they where sat on the drive, and trying to peer through the hedge at them with us sat watching them from the other side, beatings nearly followed !

They really are bad for it... They guess that 3 bikes a day AVERAGE are stolen

But when your bike's worth more than four times as much stolen than it is resale, there's not a lot of point going for a high-spec lock :p

Well a big thanks to ichabod crane and his guidance, instead of buying some Marzocchi 44TST2 forks, ive picked up some 2010 Rockshox Revelation Dual Airs on the bay, just gotta wait till i get them, its a fairly big step up from my previous low end forks, such as Dart2's and MX Pro's.

I'm so out of shape! Went for another ride on my bike tonight, did 5 miles on it round the woods, the hill was brutal :(

fat bloke + out of shape + singlespeed + hill = deaded

I think I did the right thing with the SS though, it's going to do me good.

Going to track them with endomondo and see if I can get my average speed up over time.

I loved my stiffee, but can't imagine it being better than the enduro in a enduro race.

Isn't it quite unforgiving?

Its probably now as im a lot fitter I find it alittle easier. So from that view point its quite hard to gauge which one was better. I do enjoy riding the Stiffee though, wish I had the enduro now to compare.

btw if anyone needs new pedals , I have a new set of Crank brothers Acid 1's in black. ive only used them for approx 30 -40 km :)

Think my Elixir 5 pads have been contaminated somehow....making a horrible sount like grit is stuck in there or something...plus a bit of vibration too.

Plan is to rmove them, rough them up with some sand paper and clean the rotors with Isoprophyl alcohol?

You will have to bed them in again after re-burring them.

Can someone tell me if these are any good?

Looks like the site has just died, here's the description:

Zéfal Lock 'N' Roll Security QR Skewer Set

Combines the convenience of quick release with the peace of mind that your wheels and saddle can't get easily stolen.

How they work

Zéfal Lock 'N' Roll Skewers work just like a conventional QR skewer - when you need to secure the wheels or seatpin binder, adjust the nutted side till it's almost hand tight, then close the lever.

To loosen the levers however, you must first invert the bike, resting it on its saddle and bars - just as you would if you had to stop to fix a puncture.

This means that if you lock your bike with the frame upright, nobody can nick your wheels or saddle. Genius.
