Didn't sleep much last night and probably won't tonight, hurts to lie on either side.

I did the same, carried on in a lot of pain but took it a bit easier, its amazing how much adrenalin can mask the pain. I don't think anything is broken, just going to be severe bruising I think. I can move my arm a little bit, just hurts like buggery. Hope you recover quickly!

Cheers mate :) Honestly i would still get it x-rayed for peace of mind. It can be surprising just how much you can actually do even you've got a break. At the moment i can type fine with my arm supported by the desk but one miniscule movement in the wrong direction and it's agony.

True about the adrenaline too. I rode a few miles, struggled the bike into the back of the car and drove 25 miles before going to A&E. I did think it was tendon damage at the time though. Maybe if i knew it was broken i would have felt sorry for myself and called for some help!

Hope you feel better soon too :)

I have a little more movement today, but still painful. Have a faily large swelling on the top of my shoulder, right next to the pointy bit (yay at my medical knowledge) and my whole upper right arm aches. Also got bruising at top of my right thigh and hip. I'm a mess lol but it could be worse :D

I'll see how it is later or tomorrow before deciding on a visit to A+E but my mate who I ride with's wife said I should go and she works in the hospital.

Hello

So, a rougue lampost leaped out in front of me this morning and I bent my front wheel. Trueing a wheel is one of the only things that I haven't learned to do over the years, can someone who is learned in this 'art' have a look at this vid of it & see if you think it can be straightened or if it is knacked forever please;

Cheers :)

Thats quite a bend, as long as it hasnt cracked the rim, a good LBS and wheel builder should sort that out in 10mins max.

Getting my Second 456 frame tomorrow, this time 16" :o

Cheers, rim isn't cracked, thought it would be fixable. I popped into a LBS on the way home from work who told me I would need a new wheen and quoted me £50.....

I think I'd like to give it a bash myself tbh, anyone any good at this & can offer some tips?

I wouldnt suggest doing it yourself, getting the spoke tension equal around the rim is an art form and takes quite a lot of practice, plus as you take one out you always put another in and go round in a circle, plus you can un-dish the wheel in the process which will make the wheel sit off centre, as for your LBS ive had much worse than that fixed with no issues, infact they are still straight and true to this day and they had multiple buckles all around the rim. Any other LBS you can try?

Yeah, there's a few round here, just that one was on the way home!!

anyone tried superstars wheelsets?

tempted to get some new hoops as my 729's are a bit overkill for trail riding

They seem to get ok reviews and recommendations over at Bike Radar, but personally I would put my money on a Hope Hoops or Maxis wheelset.

Do the Superstars work out a lot cheaper than a set of Hope Hoops?

You can get coloured Hope Hoop hubs on stans rims from Moonglu :)

Looking at a few sets from superstar and all on offer at the min at <£150 so coming in quite under the hope hoops, have emailed to get weights from them.

Looking at white hubs/white rims for my heckler however not sure how overkill it would look completely white.

 That is cheap! Get two pairs one for spares :D

All white should look good.

Well my intention is to get some lightish trail wheels and tyres and then when i want to do more dh il put my 729's back on and keep them as spares.

What's people's opinion on the best trail tyre then? Dalby's my usual winter haunt so itll need to be good in wet mud

Check out Kenda Excavators :) I have one on the rear (DTC, 2.1) it's wide for a 2.1, grips like hell in the wet, it's getting quite popular now - check out some of the threads on mtbr.com and you'll see what I mean. I run a Nevegal 2.35 dtc front which is notorious for being heavy/slow roller, but it certainly grips like hell, I haven't had it wash out on me yet and have only felt it let go on off-camber roots.
