Well my intention is to get some lightish trail wheels and tyres and then when i want to do more dh il put my 729's back on and keep them as spares.

What's people's opinion on the best trail tyre then? Dalby's my usual winter haunt so itll need to be good in wet mud

I switch between Maxxis Ignitor 2.1s and Continental MK SS 2.2s, both shed the mud well and have good all weather grip. My only issue is with the Ignitor being a little skinny would be better as a 2.2/3

Aw, these were too pretty to not have...

The Huret derailleur works a treat. I did Critical Mass on the Viscount last Friday and rode it home from around St. Pauls to Kent. I have to say it rides really nicely.

I *think* it's just a saddle needed to complete the project now :D

Lovely day for a bike ride in the lakes

Just had a look at your blog. Interesting read. I'm not a million miles away. Would be looking at doing some rides similar when I have some decent kit :D

Do you use some kind of GPS kit to measure the route you've taken, max speed, avg speed, elevation etc? Can you recommend anything decent?

Many thanks.

Cheers. I've got a Garmin Dakota 20, has OS mapping on it and you can upload routes from a PC to follow, and then download all the info when you get back. Great tool. Can buy a heart rate monitor and a cadence sensor for it too, but I've not felt the need yet.

Garmin also do the Edge 500, which I think SDK has, more like a cycle computer so no mapping, but all the logging stuff. The Garmin Connect website is ace too, you just plug in the GPS and click upload and it gives you graphs and maps and stuff.

There is also a shed load of apps for phones that will do logging too. :)

Please read this edit - Wheres the best place to get copter/bike tape, id like to protect the paint on the On-One, As we all know the paint is quite thin.

Hiya,
Sorry - I've been away for a few weeks and only have my phone for web access.

I've decided not to sell them yet, perhaps early next year when I have a bit more time to sort out some new forks.

Hi guys,

Just wondering what locks you lot use?

I've been looking at getting a cable one but not sure which one to get. I chose the idea of cable as it would be more practical for me to lock around lampposts and railings. I commute on my bike and often visit shopping areas on the way home. I doubt a 'U' Lock would fit around most of the stuff I lock to.

Price wise, I'm not really fussed. I'm more bothered about weight as I would be carrying it around pretty much all the time.

just back from ben aigan :D perfect weather for riding, came off a couple of times tho but didnt spoil the day.
made the gap jump on the mast blast but then plunged right into the enbankment which kinda spoiled my run :(

anyone else have a great day out?

I had a really good morning, rode about 20 miles, mainly just XC stuff.

Guisborough woods is fast becoming my favourite place to be!

I couldn't resist to have a quick blast on the new forks. The older Talas 36's were missing small bump compliance (08/09). Not these baby's. Sooo smooth and controlled. I'm actually close to saying they have better small bump compliance than my 2010 Boxxer Teams!

Quick bit of advice please, just put a new 9 speed chain on a 8 speed cassette and now when I put a lot of force in the pedals the chain seems to slip forward like its not quite gripping the cassette?
Its an sram chain pc9** Iam sure it said it was 8 speed compatible when I bought it.
Any suggestions?

Cheers
