There is a lot of winking going on in here

To get the thread back on track, my new frame choice has been kicked to the kerb, I was looking at a Nicolai Helius AM but after having some long talks with the dealer and looking at parts I would need to replace and issues with the frame from;

headsets, steerer lengths, fork crowns colliding with downtubes, pedal strike, only the right hand side dropouts being replaceable (if you want to change the left hand side you need a whole now seat & chain stay - this also applied if you wished to go from QR to Bolt thru rear axle or visa versa), every minor change being an extra cost and that was just to resolve the issues the frame had inherently! It was coming in at over £2k for a 160mm travel alu frame which would weight in at nearly 7lbs without shock!

Oh and not to forget it is £30 for Nicolais special shock mounting hardware, which are in fact two slightly longer metal tubes that fit over the top of your current mounts  All in all I have not been too impressed with a frame that should be completely customisable and made for you (which it can be at another additional cost :p) but struggles to support other standard components.

Hey guys,

I'm going to sound like a right cheapskate here but from next week I'm going to be cycling to work every day as I up my cardio so need a new bike as my other one is falling apart

Budget around £150-200, at that price range am I better off just going to Halfords and getting the cheapest thing possible or is there any offers/deals online so I get something a bit better. Apollo bikes are naff usually but I accept my price range isn't allowing me much better

Something like the Carrera Subway should do you.

At no point ever buy an Apollo. It's a false economy and will put you off cycling. For £200 you could get a half decent 2nd hand bike that will be fine for commuting. Have a look on Bikeradar/ebay etc... for bargains.

Thought about a Decathlon Rockrider ?? - http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/rockrider-5-2-black-34963795/

That one is right at the top of your budget but they do lesser models as well. By all accounts they are decent bikes. The more experienced people in here could tell you better than me though

and who said building bikes was comparable with building PCs?

Should have bought a Specialized TBH.

;) ;) ;) ;)

:) ;)

Did the Merrida Brass Monkeys rnd 3 race today. Not a particularly good position, Had an issue with the lower suspension pivot coming loose on my Specialized lmao.
I'll post up a few images tomorrow asking why the hell it keeps coming loose. Its got lock tight on  :(

BUT, I still think Spesh is the way to go! SDK is on the money! ;) get a proper bike.

You can see from Heart rate that I was getting a little tired. Wasn't feeling 100% today.

Do you have a Specialized Concept store near you - if so get go and visit them. They would be falling over themselves to sort that problem.

Hi bike geeks!

Ok, so, I wanted this bike

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/trek/73-fx-2010-hybrid-bike-ec016510

For cycling here and road use

http://www.greatnorthway.org.uk/pages/guide01.html

But, they don't have my size and its a lot more expensive everywhere else, so. I have a max budget of £350, can anyone recommend me a bike?

My local bike shop is pretty pricey as well and don't seem to be rated that highly. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys

Hi, sorry to be a pain! Anyone got any ideas for me? Looking to get it soon.
