I like the idea of my first full suspension being simple, therefore a single-pivot frame makes sense. I don't want to complicate things with virtual four-bar linkeage driven this that and the other, I'd prefer to save all that for a later date once I've had time to get used to the idea of riding through/over stuff and not around it :D

Well then sir, the Morewood Sukuma it is! :)

5" of travel, Split pivot (which is a single pivot mixed with a multipivot) and a Morewood - so you will be getting quality ;)

Looks nice, but at £1500 it's right at the top of the budget. I could use the £469 I'd save by getting a Heckler to adorn it with all sorts of colourful tat.

I am a bit of a bike tart actually... I'm thinking lime-green Heckler with white Rev's, gold Hope headset, Pro 2 hubs, seat clamp etc and I've already got white bars :p

The Nukeproof looks nice, but I can't help thinking it's a bit much. I'm most certainly a trail rider, and being a hardtail rider at the mo I'm not prone to hucking massive gaps or anything like that. I doubt I'd 'need' it, if you know what I mean.

To be honest, I reckon youd be better off on a beefier bike than the Heckler given that you are a bigger chap.
Possibly something like a Lapierre Zesty/Mondraker Foxy I think is a good shout.

Only £750 ..too, which is a bargian imo

... or Mondraker Dune!

Do it... heckler is a good simple trail frame for the UK.. ichabod just says that now as he's got rid of his heckler.

That's mine :)

I've used mine at Inners and it's going with me to Morzine in summer so i don't doubt it.

I'd like new forks but that also means new wheels and i'm not quite ready to part with £500+ at the minute.
But take a look at superstar components for some wheels and bling bits.. despite what rumblings get heard they have some good kit and a good warrenty if anything goes wrong!

Oh and hi everyone been a while since i posted! hectic 6 months just flown by!

It's a Medium and im 5,9 and its fine for me.. white is nice when its clean though doesnt look like that now! and the white grips didnt last long either!

What riding do you do? Is it purely xc or a bit of everything?

Rubbish :p It cannot be denied that it is a dated frame.
It's not that complicated being single-pivot, and granted it still has a standard 1 1/8 steerer, but coming from a life of riding 1 1/8 steerer tubed hardtails it'll seem like a whole new experience for me at least - and I can't wait.

A bit of this and a bit of that really. I'm not an XC whippet but I'm by no means a downhill master either. I just rides what I sees :)

The Heckler was designed as a 'light freeride' bike. It's plenty strong. Even for the odd bit of DH
Sounds ideal, I'm planning on riding all sorts on it but nothing in the extreme upwards or down.

Also, damn Stif for doing 18 month interest free and making me consider the £600 more expensive Blur LT now....

*sigh*

It's bloody miles away sadly, but I can demo most of the Santa Cruz range at the shop in Peaslake where I ride with a mate of mine now and again.

Would like to try a Heckler and something like a Blur LT or Butcher just to see what's what. Then ask Stif nicely if they'll lend me the money....
