I need to re do mine. Is the best option to remove helicopter tape to heat it up? I have a carbon frame, a bit of heat from a hairdryer shouldn't affect it should it?

Thing is I don't want it pulling off any decals etc. It is really sticky stuff. Bought from that bike tart place others have used.

Never experienced a problem with it doing that, but using heat normally makes the tape more tacky. get a bucket of slightly soapy water (a drop of fairy liquid) and apply that as you peel it away should make it easier.

Where can I get a 17T ring for a XT cassette? Ive snapped one of the teeth. :( I need it sharpish!
Cassette is newish and dont really want to replace it.

edit - 10speed cassette 17T

Didn't think you could? Only reason they are separate is because they don't have enough service area to attach them to the spindle.

I’ve asked a few other places, Forums and searching the net (Google) but nothing. Like your new bike by the way.

How did you manage that?

? haven’t got a clue. Just noticed today after putting the KMC gold chain on. I’m racing next week so better get a new one sharpish. £50 wasted? Tis a shame :(

That was a wet and muddy 15 miles today!!! Nice day when I set off - pouring rain when at the furthest point out!!! - still can't feel my fingers properly!! along with some sketchy muddy moments!!

God, you guys are contributing to my withdrawal symptoms!! Itching to get out on my local favourite trail or out on the road bike but being a brand new dad I've had my hands full for the last fortnight since my baby son was born plus the few weeks in the run up to the birth I had tons to do and no time for the bike. Can't wait till I get a spare hour or so to get back in the saddle!!

I want to give clipless a go. I ride technical XC I guess you'd call it, in Malaysia. Usually 10km to 40km with at least several quite gnarly km's where I'd prefer not to be clipped so I can dab a foot down here and there. I won't be doing crazy jumps or high speeds it's just the slippery mud and rooted sections can be very unpredictable. I currently ride flats.

I'm torn between CB mallets and the shimano pd-m647 - any preference for ease of use for clipless newbs like me?

Of most importance is ease of getting in and out of them and also how they feel when not clipped in.

Cheers
