Pretty much what 6th said, ignore the recommended PSI rating, get your desire sag then +/- psi for the right feel.

What kind of bike and how will it be ridden.

An XC bike you'd normally set while sat down, a DH bike you set stood in your riding position.

Sit on bike, flat ground, roll around a little pedalling as normal, be careful not to weight the suspension more than your neutral riding weight.

456 general aggressive trails,light downhill type of tracks, quite a few drops and jumps and some flat riding but not a lot. So that would be stood right.

I set the shock sag sitting down and the fork sag standing up the attack position. This way the rear is going to be stiffer for climbing, and the front more controlled for descending. That's my fuzzy logic, but I guess it depends on riding style and preference.

What are the changes between the 2010 and 2011 frames? My LBS have a 2010 frame, but they wont budge much on the price.

This is how it should be done.

All this talk though about recommended settings vs what you are leaning towards.
Taking the advice of base settings are fine, but if you prefer to run your fork/shock in a certain way, because that's the way you like it - then surely that's the "best" settings for you?

We all know about Canyon bikes, and yes they are good value and spec but they are by no means anything special.

They look like the sort of bike Decathlon sell, fine by any means, but nothing that has built a name for itself.

Just ordered this to replace the dying Hayes HFX DH from the rear of my bike.

Love the Hopes on my boses bike so hoping these feel half as good. Once i have my nomad frame i will get either another M4 or a V2 for the front.

Got car insurance and MOT to pay for first then next month i can get my frame.

Ive ordered mine through york cycle works, I attended a demo day at dalby forest so got 10% off, worked out at 1269 I think.

As mentioned the 2011 is in black, orange and polished, it has adjustable seatpost guides, you can fit a semi-integrated headset (as apposed to the integrated headset in the 2010 models - which you can't run an angleset in) and a slightly altered rear shock tune (very slightly apparently).

I went for the 2011 as I wanted the cable guides, to be honest the 2010 blue one is properly nice and I may end up wishing I went for that!

robj20 - you'll love the m4s, I have them f+r on my full sus (currently in bits), 203mm front, 180mm rear floating rotors. Bags of power, I'm about 14stone and they're as powerful as I could ever want with bags of modulation. I have Formula The Ones on my hardtail and to be honest I wish I'd just got some Hope X2s/another set of m4s.

Lowest I got them to agree on was 12% off 1300 or 15% off full build at 3000

Haven't had a full demo on one, only a 10 minute blast but it felt better than a Yeti 575 with 150mm forks I had tried. Still trying to sort out a demo on the 2011 Enduro
