If you ever want to go to Cannock let me know as I go there most often. I'll be going back to Llandegla as soon as I can, around 85 miles each way for me, but I'd be happy to meet if you're going. I'm no speed demon and I'm far from from a skilled rider but I try most things, fail a lot :p I just try and enjoy the day.

You managed the 4ft drop, I wasn't brave enough to try it!

Maybe with some knee pads I might!

I'm almost settled on a Giro Xen, any other alternatives that I should consider?

Everyone is going to say what helmet 'they' have. XEN is good though. go try some on and weigh up comfort / style / usability.

A **** pot felt the most comfortable but I knew that it would be rubbish for racing and trail riding.

I had the most bizarre time in the garage with my bike. After I serviced the SIDs damping and air side, I’ve put 150psi in the pos and 80psi in the negative and feels sooo good. I assumed the neg had to be slightly more:confused:

been thinking about getting a **** pot since i broke my lid along with my ribs, would it be that unbearable riding distance or hard with it on?

Probably be ok in winter, but wouldn't fancy it in summer, not enough ventilation, although I've seen some recently that claim to be better.

Welcome to the bright side Jonny69 :D
Haha, cheers :D

Picked up the bike this morning. Lowish end steel frame, Shimano 21 gears with cheap gripshifts, bars are about a metre wide, resin brakes and resin cranks. Totally complete. Exactly what I was looking for. Getting ready to strip it down back to basics but...

...Dimlo question alert. Going to replace the resin cranks and chainset with some budget alloy ones. The resin ones bend when I give it some and I'm going to break them :D. Do chainsets generally come with the cranks like road sets do? Something like this is what I had in mind:

Will also be replacing the brakes for some alloy ones. Was thinking entry level Tektro V's or similar?

What time does it start, at work at the moment

1300 for womens and circa 1400 for mens (depending when womens finish)

If you miss it, you can watch it again as it will be up on their site.

Just finished watching the 4X from yesterday, pretty good action especially the mens final :D

Chainset come with chainrings/cranks/BB

I would be considering this:

IIRC Octalink is a trickle down tech from Deore from about 10 years ago. While it ain't Hollowtech 2, it's much better than Square Taper.

Tektro V's come standard on basic mountain bikes. That's all I know about V's :p

OH, let's not forget, Gracia promised he will backflip that last hip one day!
He might do it during his race run - that would be awesome.

Interesting to see the first girls are doing about 6mins. On my first ever run down I finished in 9mins, so not far off :p (I know the track is slightly different now)
