Excellent, cheers for that infoZ! I know the new octalink and hollowtec is better but I'll probably stick with square taper because I've not had a problem with it, plus it'll be compatible with my road stuff. It's only going on a really really bottom end rigid steel frame, so I don't want to spend much on it. Trying to decide whether the Tektro V's will be a direct fit for what's on there. I think they should be.Chainset come with chainrings/cranks/BB
I would be considering this:

IIRC Octalink is a trickle down tech from Deore from about 10 years ago. While it ain't Hollowtech 2, it's much better than Square Taper.
Tektro V's come standard on basic mountain bikes. That's all I know about V's![]()
It's a Decathlon Rockrider 8.1, same as Nix has.

- Pic from top of Minch Moor to followGlentress blue descent from the car park down - whoever built the kickers at the sides of the rolling sections was inspired!

I did the red/black back down the first time then, on the way back from the skills area, took the blue and found it much more enjoyable TBH.
What did you think of Berm Baby Berm??![]()

Quite looking forward to seeing how the Pitch handles it, I reckon I might be able to do it even faster!![]()
