Glad I'm not alone... Just took it to my LBS, new place that I'd not been to before. Really nice chap sorted it fully for me.

Turns out Leisure Lakes in Daventry made a real balls-up of my new build. The front gear cable was freyed, the front mech was too high, they'd removed the front mech cage bolt to fit the mech without removing the chain, then forgotten to put the bolt back in, and the rear cassette was loose (they'd obviously taken it off to clean it and only put it back on hand tight).

I tried to watch what he was doing to see if I could pick anything up but he was too fast! Having said that, he charged me a fiver for the lot, including cleaning and re-lubing the chain, so I'll happily go back there again.

Wow that sounds like a real mess they made, glad you got it sorted and a fiver for that, id also be happy to pay.

One question for you guys, im only running 2 rings up front and a bashgaurd, could i move the front mech down the tube?? or should i leave it...

Yeah they must've got their work experience guy to do my bike!

If you've taken the bigger ring off then yeah you should be able to move it down, bearing in mind your cable tension will need to be changed though.

I spent ages faffing on with my front mech the other weeks after years of neglect and couldn;t get it right. I finally figures out it had twisted round the tube & wasn't parrallel with the chain

I fitted new shifters, cables etc on my Kona about 12 years ago & forced myself to learn how to do it, it's not too hard really ;)

Just been and picked up some Shimano AM40s after finding that my pedals has basically ripped away all the tread on the bottom of the old skate shoes I was using. Not sure on the looks, but looking forward to see how they perform! Thought about 5.10s, but couldnt justify the extra cost.

cant see this becoming wide spread on many bikes due to maintenance etc

If it turns out to be as good as (or better) than a spring and gives a good weight saving then all the pros will start using them. Then they might catch on with everyone who wants to ride the same bike as Peaty et al.

I meant come on a bike as standard.. Im sure people will buy them aftermarket, but an air shock on an XC bike needs to be looked after etc.. On a DH bike, i can see it being more hardwork than anything

Im just in Tesco and ive just spotted a camelbak looking thing for 11.99, its a 1.5l bladder and 6litre storage, anybody here heard anything about them? Could do with getting something extra than my drink bottle, plus space for my lock and assorted tools/spares.

Will probably fall apart, my housemate had a halfords one and the strap fell off it, i have a camelbak and its absolutely fantastic, superb quality. Halfords are selling off last years camelbaks cheap if you can find any.

I had the forks and shock off my Enduro serviced last week, first ride out today, wow definitely a big improvement :) I think my shock was seriously due a proper fettle up, the small bump sensitivity is greatly improved now, much more plush overall.

I think I've got some stans flow rims coming for my birthday next week (bought by my amazing girlfriend :D), I'm going to be majorly stoked to get some good summer riding in after then! May be getting a new set of tires too, 2.35 dtc nevegal front and rear excavator 2.1.

At that price it would make a perfect stop gap, but get your self a descent Camelbak like a MULE as there perfect for a days riding 3L and holds lunch to :D

I think some people on Bikeradar bought them, I think they were on offer online at some point for even less.

Being as the last rockshox product i bought got sent back 3 times and the fox product hasnt been sent back at all.. im wondering why youve come up with such a random statement?

because untill the lightweight craze took over people used to avoid them because of the maintenance needed

your statement was random itself... referring to the maintenance of a shock that youve not even seen the full spec of never mind tried.

wasnt having a go , was just thinking it was strange to say something wont be popular because of maintenance needed when fox make possibly the most popular race fork and it needs a hell of a lot of servicing, doesnt stop the 40s selling so why would it stop this shock selling ?

Had one for about a year now, nowt wrong with it at all.

I rarely use the 1.5 bladder as I prefer bottles, Plus I alway tend to leave the tap on it turned on and it leaks all over me.
I used to have a camelbak years ago and the tesco version is as good as I remember the camelbak being.

I meant it in the sense that manufactures wont be putting this on full builds as standard due to maintenance etc. Problem with airshocks is they aint as forgiving when neglected. Dont get me wrong, all shocks aint, but a standard coil shock will stand upto a lot more abuse, thats my reasoning as to why air shocks will never take off. Also the fact that air forks/shocks feel horrible half way down a 5min run and dont feel the same as when you started off. However they seem to have corrected this issue but only time will tell on that front.

As for the 40's, i wouldnt say they need a hell of a lot of servicing, they require a lower oil and lube done every so often and maybe a full service say every half a year if your giving them a thrashing every weekend, so maybe a full year without having to send them back to Mojo. As compared to Boxxers, which as mine felt crap out of the box, had to send them back to fix that, got them back and they started clunking so sent them back again, this resulted in a new compression cart being fitted. Then after only a few more months they became super stiff which resulted in my having an off at Cwmcarn at the DH meet we had. So its either spend over £100 having them TFTuned to fix these problems (Which some people say are still the same after TF) or go for a fork which works. I guess maybe ive had a bad experience, but to say 40's require a lot of servicing is a bit mad when you think Rockshox cant even get a pair of Boxxers working out of the box?
