It's bad to leave your bike upside down? :p New to me, why is this? I've had mine upside down for several days at a time in the past without any problems, a lot of people seem to recommend it as it lubricates something in the forks (I don't understand completely).

I've heard that some fork manufacturers recommend it oddly, but for hydraulic brakes its an apparent no-no.
 
Have always heard about not turning hydraulic brakes upside down - due to the fact that air bubbles will always remain in the line. Turning upside down will force air bubbles to the caliper - probably not a good thing.

Have heard the same for forks. Especially Fox Forks. Not sure why though - purely just riding gives the forks enough lubrication all over the spring (if forks are coil sprung)...
 
It's recommended to put your bike upside down for 30mins before a ride so oil can lubricate everything inside of your forks/shock including seals and in turn stanchion(s)/shaft. I stored 2 bikes in a Van upside down for a 4 hrs drive and overnight before Cwmcarn. No problems, just buttery smooth suspension. :cool:

Sgt Pepper, I know what you mean but if the bug bites you'll end up spending far more, £1k is reasonable and very good on cycle to work, i think it'll save you £100s in the future and if you hate it, I'll even buy it off you! :D

I went to Halfords yesterday to have a look, but they weren't very helpfull, they only had 2 Boardman bikes in and wouldn't let me sit on them, think I probably will go with the Carbon tho, but not from the Halfords i visited yesterday:D.
 
I checked the brakes this morning and zip tying them to the bars has made no difference. Zipped them back up and will check again after work. Looks like i'm taking it to a LBS as it stands. :(
 
Question for you guys!!!.

What size stainless allen headed bolts are usually used as the 4 fitted to road bike stems?. I want to replace mine as they are looking a bit dull and worse for wear but I have no idea what size they are?. Had a dig around online and some say they will likely be M5x16 but I have also read of a few other sizes that are possibles?. I once knew a guy who could simply look at any screw, bolt whatever and tell you exactly what size it was but unless a component has the size marked on it, I'm hopeless at that!!.

Or is there a way to measure the things and tell?. Cheers.
 
Plan was to drive up Friday night, do trailwork Saturday, ride Sunday. Which would have given us a free lift pass in the summer too.

Janesssssy, not been online for a little while, just spotted the pics of the stem I asked you to post - much appreciated mate.

It doesn't look that much of a change to my current 90mm/5 degree Thomson so I think I'm gonna go for it.
