Big Bike Thread

I've just started riding into work on my new bike (Specialized Allez 16). For the first time since I've been commuting it rained today. My bike is left out in the car park behind the building so there's no overhead cover. Was just wondering if there's any 'maintenance' I should do on it if I know it's going to rain as sitting outside in the rain for 8 hours probably isn't going to help it much.

When you get home, wipe the chain with a dry cloth and then lube it. Use a proper chain lube not WD40.

Then give the chain, chain rings and cassette a clean at the weekend. A shiny drivetrain is a happy drivetrain.

dont suppose your selling the fox's? :)

Road peddles use three hole SPD-SL cleats that are a lot larger than MTB SPDs:

i'm sure you can guess which is which :)

Edit: to clarify there are other versions of the cleats for different peddles but the two/three holes have been standardized so you can either get "Road" shoes which usually come with both 2 & 3 hole layouts and "MTB" shoes that tend to have a more recessed cleat and only two holes.

The ones on the left aint SPD-SL are they  They look more like look cleats.

Just did my first 10 mile time trial.
Hard going but good fun. Did a 25:19
I think another bike is needed now. This is going to be an expensive hobby.
TT bikes are beautiful things tho (in fact, i think i may like the look of them more than dh bikes ).

I've got my first TT as part of a Tri at the end of May; 20k. I'll be doing it on a Cervelo S1, if I can get it set up in time. Hoping to average 25-26 mph if the weather is right.

And yes, TT bikes are very, very stunning. I want a P3C or a P4 so badly.

Went out tonight on the bike, in the rain and mud, and my word my pannaracer fire xc's are crap, within 2 secs they were clogged and my frame and fork arch began to collect half a ton of mud lol. Still i had fun just need to get some different tires that work all year round/ish

Cant remember if the brother in law is now on a P2C or a P3C. Either way its stunning in the silver/white/black paint job.
They look fast when standing still!!

I found that when my fire xc gets clogged up, it's because I'm not going fast enough:p

Or try panaracer fire mud/trailraker

Will a 36t chainring marked "Triple" be ok for my double chainring setup of 24t and 36t? Or will a "Triple" not fit a "Double".
My cranks are triple compatible, but i run two rings with a Bash Guard. :)
Head's in the house today :(
