Large volume tyres don't necessarily mean slow. A lot of XC racers use the Race King 2.2's. ( A very different tyre to the 2.0's I run on the Blur). Just don't expect any of the Black Chilli tyres to last long on road though. If you ride in really rocky trails then the Protection version would be better too.

Well I actually already run 2.25 tyres – they came with the bike :o (Nobby Nic front and Racing Ralph rear).

I'll consider those tyres when I decided to upgrade them though! Tyre's aren't something I've really given much thought to since getting my bike.

HALP! how the hell do i knock the BB out.. on my BMX.. i have mid BB and i've tried many different ways to knock them out.. but i can't seem to do that without damaging the bearing :/ any tool available or something?

I finally got my new wheels back from the shop today :)

Stans ZTR Flow rims, built on the stock Enduro front hub and a rear Hope Pro 2.

Also got a new pair of tires; front Kenda nevegal 2.35 dtc and rear Kenda excavator 2.1 dtc, and lastly some Lizard Skins Peaty grips with red/white bar ends bought seperately from Superstar.

Been out for a ride today and I'm very pleased, the tires roll much better than my previous Kenda Stick-E ones, the wheels feel solid and I think they'll last me a long time.

Next upgrade: i950r seatpost :D Might go bolt-through for the rear hub too.

Nice bike dude - you're running the same grips and chain guide as I do on my Enduro SL :)

How are you getting on with the E150 Fork - Does it run smooth?
I'm about to swap mine for a Fox 36 Float because I'm getting frustrated by it's sticky, jerky, poor damping.

Cheers! I've just (about 1 month ago) had my E150 and AFR serviced by Specialized (full service) so they're running great at the moment.

I'm not sure what you mean by damping, if your fork is sticky then do you have trouble with small bumps? Make sure your spike valve is set correctly (anywhere between 50-55 psi is normal but you can go lower for more sensitivity). Have you had it serviced recently?

A few people seem to have swapped out the E150, personally I can't imagine doing it, it's what makes the 07-08 Enduro so great in my opinion, the precision and rigidity of the dual crown and 25mm through axle is something I feel I'd miss.

Edit: I'm so weak. Just ordered a Kind Shock i950-r adjustable seatpost. I'm justifying it by the fact I'm sick of adjusting my seat post at least 5 times every time I do one lap of my local trails :p I can't take the "it really is worth the money" comments any more :p

I thought the E150 was meant to be a pretty good fork? The AFR shock is a bit dead feeling IMO, I could never get it set up nicely.

An adjustable seatpost will probably be the next upgrade for me. The carbon post was a bad idea, looks tatty now. :(

Thinking of going for a Joplin when I've got the cash for mine.

Rode the Langsett end of Cut Gate this morning, if the rest is the same, I need to get out and do the full path, such a great bit of trail. Lovely dry dusty conditions too.

And in other news, bloody rockhopper rear wheel has snapped some spokes again

Third time now, time for a cheap set of Deores or something..

Nice pics Andi, I've ridden a part of Cut Gate before, no idea which bit, started from the car park end until it got to what appeared to be a high point before descending down into a valley again, then came back, pretty damn fun cranking like hell on the way back as it's mostly flat with a few short hills isn't it? I remember seeing a stone flagged section where (presumably a walker) had wrote "Bikers **** off!" :D

Also check out the Kind Shock post as well as the Joplin, the clamp on the KS model is supposed to be far better and it generally seems to be the one most people go for, there's a huge thread in the All Mountain forums on mtbr.

It would appear that I put an inch long gash in the sidewall of one of my tyres at Llandegla, so now I need to pick up another. I've been running Nevegal DTC 2.35s all round but have been considering something slightly different up front for balance, any thoughts? I'm thinking a Blue Groove or a Nevegal Stick-E, but just wondering if anyone had tried any similar combos?

I just use a socket extender and tap at 3-6-9-12 o'clock repeatedly.

I've setup the fork and spike valve pressure and it's been serviced twice by Specialized, the most recent being done in April where all of the internals were completely changed for new parts.
The first couple of rides after the service were super plush but now the sticky motion has started to come back again and from experience it's only going to get worse.

I really want to like the E150 but if it's not working properly then it has to go.

FFS that just takes the biscuit. New bike has just turned up, only 2 months after i started the damn C2W scheme and i can't ride it for a good few days

Managed to put my back out somehow ever the weekend and in huge amounts of pain despite the rather strong pain killers, cycling is properly off the cards until my back recovered. Fingers crossed the chiropractor can help out a bit tonight!
