Cheers :) I'm in the centre so pretty accessible North/South East or West :)

I'm up for that, always better riding with someone, safer overall. I usually go to Rivington on my MTB, not been into the Peaks yet, sadly I have no car so I mainly get the train places.

Went Rivington the other week but I'm south Manchester so it's a hefty drive for the type of ride really. How long does it take you on the train?

Really liking that Synapse, Vader. Looks nice. What groupset is on it?.

Quick question to the roadies amongst us. Has anyone upgraded their groupset from something low spec to a higher spec one and really noticed a large difference in performance?. Say, going from Tiagra or 105 to Ultegra or Dura-ace?.

PBK have some cracking offers on at the moment for groupsets, complete kits and I'm tempted to indulge and go from Tiagra on my Pinarello to Ultegra 6700 which is reduced from £799 UK RRP to £575. I could recoup a wee bit by flogging my Tigra, I'm thinking.

I have been riding a fisher paragon 2010 and have enjoyed it a lot. Smooth bike - does what it says on the tin. Expensive though so be prepared to pay the 29er tax.

I know what you mean with the 29er tax, I feel 26" wheeled bikes look a bit goofy with the seats 3 miles in the air!

I am looking at the Gary Fisher bikes too.

Does anyone have any experience of On-One bikes?

I do rate On-One up there with any of the other manufacturers, all there stuff is made in the same factories in taiwan.

The Scandal rode excellently the only reason i got rid of it was after getting a full susser i wasn't using it enough and felt sorry for it sat in the garage :(

yay got my bike back today after 5 weeks! went and picked it up and guy didnt even charge me! it needed front wheel fixing as it was tiny buckle and they had some problems getting the washer and pins for my brake lever from the suppliers so said not to worry cause it took so long! just been on 15 miler and its nice and smooth again!

so very very happy \o/

Are you looking for drops or a flat bar? The most common ones you see are:

Charge Plug - £549
Specilized Langster - £449

Or you can go uber-tarty with something like a Foffa Prima

Something from Condor would also fit the bill, like a Pista, which is about £500. Also highly recommended are Persons like the Touche or Hanzo. The Hanzo is more in your price range.

Brilliant thank you, I'm liking the sound of the Charge Plug so going to be taking a little look at that!

It's 35 minutes on the train from Victoria :) Where do you usually go?

Cheers :) It's kinda my dream bike that I could afford. The groupset is only 105, but it seems to be fine. I highly doubt I'd see much of an improvement. I would love to have Ultegra or Dura-Ace but I suspect the only different would be weight.

I do however like the look of the SRAM Rival/Force. I'm also slightly limited by the fact it's a BB30.

I've had my Fisher Paragon 29er since '06 and still happy with it. If the geo worked for me (no idea, haven't checked lately on their sizes) I'd have no problems with the On-One bikes either.

I was just looking at the Scandal Geo, looks like the head tube stays the same at 105mm regardless of frame size? That doesn't look too good to me.

The Gary Fisher Bikes are now looking better, I fancy the X-caliber however the Sram groupset is putting me off that?

Marin Nail trail 29er?
