Don't want one that has attachments on the fork/wheel

You'd need to get a GPS if you dont want fork attachments. More expensive tho.
I have a garmin forerunner that i use on my bike. Its designed more for running but works fine and gives me all the info i want.

Computers with fork/wheel attachments are much cheaper tho. I needed one for my uni project and managed to get one on ebay for 99p. It was brand new and had wireless sensors.

I tried the Cateye Strada and it looks fine, the sensor is a lot bigger though being wireless, although I think I'll transfer it over to my mountain bike now I have a GPS.

Did you manage to hold it together, or do you now have a nasty case of road rash?
The puncture pushed me wide into a grassy rocky ditch at the side of the road. Somehow managed to ride that out but there was a raised drain at the end of it. Impacting that put a dent in my front rim, very lucky not to taco the wheel or endo. Both tyres were flat, had to open the front brake quick release to be able to ride the wheel but continued on with another 40 miles back towards home. Until a rear spoke snapped which put the rear out of true so it rubbed the frame. Carried my bike a couple of miles to the subway. Expensive repairs required, but I walked away without a scratch, very lucky.

Not long back from riding 9 trails in 9 days all over Scotland. No rest days. Some photo's from the trip:

Pfft, looks rubbish.

It was awful, you didn't miss anything.

laggan looks awesome. I really need to get down there sometime.

No squirrel pictures tho?

Nomad boy was right when he said it is too short. The black is pretty full on and worth the trip though.

One Squirel pic:

:D

Nice pics weescott, it looks like you took the easy option on the slab though - starting half way down

Thanks and errr...busted! :p Went part the way back up just for the pic. ;) It looks scary from the top but once you start going it's really very easy. Ayers rock at Laggan is worse.

Did you do AE forest? That is one of my favourites in scotland so far
Still yet to ride Dalbeattie and a few others. The slab looks fun tho :)

Yeah. It's up there with the best trails for sure. I only have Newcastleton to tick off on the 7Stanes list now. From what I have heard it's nothing great so I'm in no rush. The trails north of Inverness are next on my list. :D

Still far too many mountain types on here.

Well.. the thread title CLEARLY states "the BIG bike thread" - not the "The Skinny bike thread" :D

And thats the best advert for wearing a helmet if i ever saw one, lucky lucky guy.

Indeed - it also makes a good advert for a Troy Lee D3 helmet!
I dont think my 661 lid would have been as protective as the TLD.

Not that I want anything bad to happen to Gee Atherton, but if that happened to him, I think he would have been in a much worse state. (Gee also wears a 661 lid like mine, just painted red bull)
