Time to correctly set-up gears; weeks.
You must be doing it wrong! It takes me less than 15 mins to fit and adjust the mech and have flawless shifting, though I am in the process of starting up a business in the trade.

Make sure you take a puncture kit for Richmond Park, they are resurfacing at the moment and it's covered in gravel.

Just found out today that we are doing the scenic route and it does go through Richmond Park. Looking forward to it as someone in our group has managed to get Gatorade to be our sponsor so hopefully some nice freebies on the day :)

Also had a ride with the nano flat pedals today and they have made a huge difference. Grippy as hell and more of my energy is going into moving those cranks than my crappy old ones and i'm definitely moving faster.

 Must. Have. Now.

you should come and have a look at it, or ill let you know when I am out riding. currently resting until next week as I was hit (again!) this time the driver caused a lot of damage to my bike and me. She just admitted liability, and her insurance will pay out, so the Wilier is out of action for now. I'm never cycling down King's Road again....

If all goes well, should have a set of Dura Ace 50mm Carbon Clinchers as well (I already have Zefiro 38mm ones, but I wanted another set of wheels, so convinced myself I needed DA ones...)

Going to be painful to insure...on paper the bike will probably be worth around £7500 (!!), which would be £60 per month or something to get dedicated insurance......

How often to Specialized (or Shimano for that matter) update their range of SPD shoes? Is there likely to be a 2011 range to coincide with this years bikes, or do clothing items tend to work differently?

It's about the same as most bikes at the price point and the frame is nice but it depends on what you keep breaking.

Wheels won't be mad strong, chainset could do to be better but I can't see what else you can kill on it.

Its either the frame snaps or the gears/clogs break

So i dont want to spent too much or too little. I think i will go for the Hardrock 2010 it looks good to me :)

Would love to see it in action, especially with the wheels on!

Added the S1 to the insurance at full price (£2,250) and it was £100 a year on my home insurance.

Have you got a target on your back or something? Hope the damage to you and the bike aren't too bad. Remember that injuries can take a while to show up.

Looking at a new commuting frame at the moment but undecided between carbon or titanium. Decided the BB on the Ribble is too floppy but I also like the road feel alu gives you.

Nearly got take out by a cyclist tonight going over Bolan Death Bridge; cresting at 25 and he decides he wants to go to the right of the speed bump instead of the left so moves 8 feet into my line. Choice words exchanged.

mmmmmm niiiiiiice.

So you're aka londonbairn

Does anyone here ride at Wharncliffe regularly? I'm thinking of going on Sunday and wondering if anyone could show me around as I understand it's a bit tricky for a newb :)

Yep several times a week, I live just down the road :)

Sunday I'm working at 4:30 so only have until around 3pm to ride, and I only do DH so it's up to you. If you're planning on doing the XC loop it's a bit of a mess atm since the FC is doing loads of tree felling

Today Ive been playing around with braided cables for my hope brakes. Advice to anyone who trys it them selfs - get good cable cutters or the braid will fray. The olive is a pain to get on.

Pic of me tomorrow on the mendips :) with a lot of new kit for the Stiffee.

Hmm could work! I'd like to see as much as possible, if I followed you to & down the downhills (I use the term followed loosely, more like trail :p) then you could point me in the general direction of the big red XC loop?

Feel free to add me to MSN..

Surely that Dura Ace Di2 should be easier to set up compared to normal gears? Afterall, Di2 is electronic, not using cables to pull it.

Can anyone recommend a decent shock pump? Well, I say decent, but I want something less than £20 inc. delivery. :p

Need to go up to about 160PSI.

anyone know a strong 26" rear wheel?
i managed to buckle my back wheel a few months back and not got round to replacing it, now i've been looking around and not too sure what i'm looking at( no strengh ratings ect.)
I've seen THIS Halo wheel which looks quite good but i'm not sure.
Looking to spend no more than £120 ideally, for wheel-tyre(s)-tubes-skewer

What did you have before, how much do you weigh and what kind of riding do you do?

this has a great price vs weight vs strength ratio ... and it's an entire wheelset!

or the older one

Apparently so. rafter said it's self calibrating. Excellent stuff. Mind Sastre still got stuck on the little ring during the TT prologue for the GdI so it's not foolproof.

i'm about 12.5 stone i think, i only need a rear wheel and it's going to be mainly for commuting with weekend downhill riding. no big drops/jumps, just bumpy ground and road.
