After 2012 the only things left surviving will be cockroaches and Karate Monkeys :D

edit: I guess the advantage of the Inbred being from the UK and the KM being USA impacts the price, what prices are the frames?

The KM frame with fork is $475 here.

The KM (with fork) is ~£375 where the Inbred is ~£170. However, they've sold out and are waiting delivery of the 3rd gen Inbred which may or may not cost a bit more. Even assuming it costs a bit more and compensating from the fork, the KM is a good £100 more.

jesus christ fork prices are insane this year

fox f120 is £515 and doesnt even have the gold coating or the FIT dampner for that price :(

need a 120 or 140 mm fork for my marin mount vision, QR and 11/8th steerer

cant seem to find any bargains only a pair of revelations for £320 which I worry may be too long for the marin (120mm rear travel)

bah!

On One where doing Fox 2010 32 140mm RL for like £290ish and a few other places too. I got my 150mm RLs for not much more.

Edit !
Seams to only be bargin 1.5 stearer fox's available now !
That Kashmina Coating is an extra I think

Taking VAT into account a 25 quid markup for the KM then, not as bad as I was expecting.

Did a Loner Ride at Dalby the other Day.

Hope to improve my riding this year by using my hardtail and getting faster, will be aiming for a time of 2.30 for the red route by the end of summer.

The weather was great and my Merlin felt real fast New upgrades Include.

Red Metal 5 Wheel set,
Formula Oro Puro Brakes
Sram PG 990 Cassette
Michelin Mountain Dry 2 2.35 Reinforced tyres (Will hopefully setup as Tubeless soon)

All found for bargaintastic prices, think it all cost less than £280

Off to Carron Valley tomorrow for the first ride of the year :p

Should be good.

How did you get on, Kieran?. I went up yesterday and went round all the trails. Excellent stuff. Bumped into a couple of guys from Glasgow at the top of the Cannonball Run and had a quick chinwag, first timers to Carron V.

Noticed they have done some work on the trail surface in many places, renewing it and tidying things up. Also spotted a few new wee boulder drop offs that have been added in to the mid to lower trail on Eas Dubh. Was very quiet up there since it was a weekday, I love the climb up, just the right side of physically taxing to be enjoyable and it was nice to get away from the chaos a new baby brings to the house!!. :p

Gaz.

Carron Valley is only 30 miles (circa 25 mins) drive from me and I never even knew it.... How can I know know about these things :o :(

It's worth the trip, it's a bit different to most other trails as each section is very short. Takes about an hour or so to go round all three of the main parts. They all flow well into each other and the way it is laid out is pretty good as each trail leads back to a connecting firetrack road which allows you to do each part as often as you want. It can be a tad confusing to find your way around at first unless you know where the trails start and finish.

I generally climb up to Eas Dubh, head down that through Kelpies staircase and pop out at the bottom, back up the road to Cannonball Run then at the bottom of that hang a right at the "Y" split and out onto the road where you can head right up to the start of the free ride section, the "Runway". Bottom of the Runway takes you back to the car park but I usually head back up either the trail climb or the firetrack road and do the runway a second or third time as it's quite addictive and lots of fun!.

Some people have tried it out then compared it to longer trail centres and complained it isn't up there with them in the ratings but I think Carron tries to do something a bit different compared to other places. It's great for a quick blast round to blow away the cobwebs and unwind if you have a spare hour or you can take lunch with you, go round it a few times in the morning then stop for a bite to eat and a chinwag and then go round again. I love it!!. I'm not that experienced an MTB'er having only been doing it since April 2010 and I'm by no means quick and prefer a nice steady climbing pace but CV suits me perfectly especially as it is so local.

Mini-OcUK Scottish Carron Valley meet sometime maybe?. :)

Yep, sounds awesome. I'll not manage it though since I became a new dad on March 1st and we have kinda got our hands full!!. Couldn't wangle a weekend away ( my powers of persuasion aren't that good :p ) and even a full day away at Glentress would be difficult for me at the mo. Put me down as a defo for 2012 though!!.
Since Carron V is just up the road from me though, I'd manage a few hours up there, think the missus would cope with that!! :)

Personally - a bit unimpressed by lack of communication from on-one so far

Considering i'm spending £1200 on a full build from them - i'm doing all the chasing and lack of responses to emails is getting very annoying!! Ordered on 1st March - awaited a couple of out of stock things but that was all sorted about 10 days ago - supposed to be built yesterday and so far nothing from them in terms of communication etc.

Time to vent the rage on the phone i think!! :p

EDIT - right - they 72 hours behind schedule for builds so not getting dispatched till next monday and I'm away all next week!!!:mad::mad: ARRRGGGHHHH - now need to arrange delivery elsewhere!!
