They don't look that flat either? A shoe with a flat base is a good idea as you've got more contact with the pedals, large tread can make your foot spin off the pedal too.

Never had a problem with my feet coming off.
Im not spending loads of money on shoes that typically only last a year or so, you lot obviously stay way to clean. I come back from most rides covered in mud.

They look spot on. Price varies wildly for these on the net. How much did you pay for them?
 
Trying to make my mind up on a bike for commuting to work and some XC.

I used to do a bit of dirt jumping as a teenager, had a basic dirt jump frame (old CBR Gatecrasher) but I saved and saved and got a set of Bombers (MXC Airs) and some Mavic D521's. It then got stolen :(

Kona Fire 2011 seems like a better spec'd version of the Lanai and it's not much more expensive!

which vans ? get one of the pro models and you cant really go wrong

id recommend the xlts because i had 4 pairs of the original ones back in t day and they where the best shoe i ever owned, they weighed literally nothing

Couldn't get the 6.0s in that colour anywhere local and the the white or green ones I found were only 9s (too small) and 10s (too big) so ended up with the below in a 9½.

Almost identical tread on the sole so should be grippy. They are comfortable to wear also.
 
Soo, after a couple of weeks riding this the 11 mile round trip to work everyday....

I decided to invest in something a little more suitable, with a rack and a bag to store my things. Its no racer, but its certainly some improvement, my old bike was so so slow, this feels great in comparison. Pretty happy thus far! I chose to upgrade the saddle to a specialized item which is fantastically comfortable and a mega improvement on the old bike too. :)
