It will be fine for very average and shaky quality. I've got one and the camera itself is not too bad, but the mounts are flimsy meaning you get really shaky footage from a helmet mount.

Still, if you can eliminate that you can get some decent enough footage, loads of footage on youtube from these cameras.

Quite shaky footage, probably mounted to handlebar. But other than that its quite clear I suppose.

Came to change my pads today as I thought they were shot after going off yesterday.

They have plenty of meat left on them, could they just have been overheated/the fluid gone off? The travel seems to have increased on the brake lever and they aren't as good as they used to be.

Its so dry there wasn't anything that could have splashed up and contaminated them!

Oh, and should the bolts from the caliper to the adaptor be threadlocked or not? Anyone know a rough torque figure for them?

No threadlock on mine, just hand tight for me, never had them come loose.

I've got thread lock on the adapters but none on the calipers, just nice and tight. As for the travel increase in the lever, 1 thing you can try is take the pads out, and push the pistons back in and then pads back in and pump the lever to set them again, failing that they will need a bleed.

It sounds similar to what mine were doing.. I bled the system and they're back working great again! Was a fairly simple job to bleed it, just a bit messy with the brake fluid!

I did push them back in and reseated the pads, then recentred the caliper and made sure it was all ok.

Time to order a bike stand and some bleeding gear, and some heli tape... And..... Getting expensive is this mtb lark!

Maiden voyage on the On One 456 SS yesterday.
Awesome springs to mind :) so much better than the giant in terms of handling going downhill and through berms/jumps etc.
Climbing was no probs on the Revelations either.
Got a bit too confident on a jump though, ended up crashing.
A trip to a&e later and my leg has stitches and my arm is bandaged due to severe grazing, but I'm still grinning :)
Bike came out nearly 100% ok thank ****. I mangled one of my elixir 5 lever assemblies though....will I have to buy a new set or are there places that sell just the lever assemblies? Google turned up some elixir spares but none for the 5
Photos of injury later if you want :)

ouchy! overdoing it a bit!!:p

Glad to see you and bike are "just" about ok!

Pop the pads out, make sure there is no oil around the pistons.
That should more or less rule out pad contamination.

If the brake lever pulls to the bar, it needs a bleed. Otherwise, it's something to do with the pads.
It is possible to glaze organic pads, taking them out and sanding them down a bit normally sorts it :)

Thanks, the pads were dry and no oil or mank.

The lever pulls almost to the bar, I was hitting my fingers with it yesterday when braking.

Is the official Avid bleed kit with the price hike over the copies? I know that brake fluid will make lines and plastics turn cloudy over time but was wondering if it was more resistant to it happening/the seals were better?

I can't see the point in spending that much on the official Avid kit.. I bought one for a tenner on Ebay and it worked perfectly! :)

It was the Epic bleed kit, seemed to have the most positive feedback on there.

Which tyres are people recommending? I've got the standard Specialized ones on mine at the moment and as good as they are on road, they don't seem to have the grip off road which kind of defeats the purpose of the bike and have had a couple flats on the front.

Been looking at the Nobby Nics, but some people seem to be recommending having a different tyre on the back?

On One SS

And a photo of the "injury". I think my wife deleted the shot of my arm and leg.....this one has a slightly bandaged leg...

Ouch

The puncture tore the muscle and caused the blood to spurt out. We thought an air ambulance would be in order at first....

Frame size is a 16" :) The 18" was too big (not enough stand over clearance)

Going by the sizing guide on the website, I could have got away with a 14, but thought that would be a bit too small :p
