Exact same bike as the last one but with discs. If you can afford it then I would recommend that one. The discs might not be great but at least you will have disc compatible hubs should you wish to upgrade.

As some people will say, the components ain't the best but the frame is meant to be decent enough to make it worthwhile upgrading if you want.

I await recommendations from better people than me however

It seems a nice bike, I was only worried about the pads as they used to wear down quickly unless they're different now?

After thinking about the price different in both of the bikes I've been looking at I think I will go with the one that I've been recommended as it's cheaper and just as good

Thinking of downsizing from my trek session to more of an allrounder. Most of my riding will still be dh but considering i never do uplift days its getting a little tiresome, its like taking my bike for a walk.

What do people recommend for an all over good bike at around 2-2. 5k? I rather like the alpine 160,, how would I get on with this if I decided I just wanted to do a spot of trail riding? I know it'll be competent on the dh but would like a change every so often :)

Dont sell the Session - get a Pitch Pro, Saracen Ariel, etc type of bike for the rest of the duties.

Today I are was mostly doing DH. So I'm going to recommend a YT:

Hammerschmidt and a Lyrik on a £1900 bike!

The colour schemes have improved on those Notons! That does look a great spec indeed, shock is supposed to be good too.

Also just noticed how much their AM bike looks like a Transition Covert frame

See if you can get this with a Fox 36 float (they sometimes allow you to change the spec a little) ditch the hammerschmidt too to save weight http://www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbikes/bike.html?b=2092 that'd be a beast! Vivid air, x9, code brakes, deemax wheels, for £2.6k.

Managed to make my bottom bracket creaky when I pedal hard :(
It's a 2011 Saint BB, had a few months use.
Cleaned the threads and re-tightened it and it still creaks..

It's doing my head in, that's for sure.

I guess this is not normal...

Are your cranks tight, is there any wobble coming from them?

Are you sure it's from your bottom bracket? Creaks can be hard to crack down sometimes, could be rear suspension pivots if you have those, shock bolts, does it do it when you sit down and stand up? If yes then it's unlikely to be your seat/seatpost, possible handlebars/stem.

I had this same "problem" which seemed to appear if I pushed hard on the left pedal. Turned out it was the rear brake that needed adjusting as my wheel was slightly out of true.

90% sure it's the BB, only happens when I stand up and properly crank it, and bouncing on the suspension doesn't do it. (Cranks are tight)
I'll redo the pivot bolts anyway, and re-clean the BB threads just to make sure.

The bike got a bit of a battering at Gethin recently, just hope I haven't killed the bearings already.

I've got this problem at the moment too, from the right drive side. Sounds and also feels like a creaking from my shoe of all places, but I've checked the cleats and they're solid.

The pedals are tight and so are the cranks, and weirdly it doesn't just happen when stomping on the pedals, you can hear it when idly pootling along too while hardly applying any pressue.

Hey guys, think I've finally settled on this: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/8-1-2010-141402412/

I am ready to order it however, I'm not sure on the size I need? Decathlon are doing M/L/XL as opposed to inches.

I'm a little over 6ft and about 32" on the inside-leg. I just want a frame that's comfortable for the job, but not so small I feel like I'm stretching or that it's becoming unfomfortable to ride. Also, I'd like to be able to not feel like a small child riding a bike too large for me. :p

I'm assuming 19"-20" frames are ideal for me (based on sizing guides I've seen)? The problem is, I don't know how this equates on the Decathlon sizing.

Any help?

If this is anything to go by, am I right in assuming I need the L frame?

In that case we won't really be able to help, as none of us here rides those bikes (not that I can recall anyway)

Rode my Tracer 2 yesterday at Woburn Sands, doing Mini DH runs.
I'm now in love with the little bike!

Rode these trails (apart from the last bit of Aston Hill) and it rode like a DH bike

(unfortunately I'm not as rapid as Jono in this vid :( )

Quick one, an Sram Powerlink will work with a Shimano chain won't it?

Most forums say it will work fine, and Sram say it won't, but this is in the hope you will buy their chains.
