Any comment on my Brake issues. I have Avid elixer CR's. Very bad vibrations / ressingnating through the frame front and back.
I've changed pads, bled both brakes and adjusted. Im hearing that it may be the discs. Any other suggestions? only started doing it :(

If you take the pads out the caliper, you should be able to tell if the discs bent when you spin the wheel over just by looking through where the pads would sit from above.

That or a bike shop would use a dial gauge to check the discs run-out and then they can true it going off that.

You could probably do most of your bike service yourself, if not then ask the bike shop to adjust the gears and advise if anything else needs done and take it from there. It shouldn't cost much to do at all. If you are buying stuff from them they might even adjust it for free, assuming nothing is wrong.

New brake pads c£15
New gear cable c£3
Tyre choice depends what you want to use the bike for, but budget around £20-£30 each.
If other parts need replacing like the chain, cassette & rings, then it can get expensive.

:)

Well i don't really know much about bikes so would know where to begin with sorting gears out. How do you know when you brake pads or fluid do need chaning?

have you tried the obvious checking that all the rotor bolts are tight ?

id take it off , put some grease/copperslip on the bolts and where the rotor sits on the hub mounts and then refasten it all down

while the rotors off you can clean it check how straight it is too if you have access to flat surface

id put some copperslip behind the pads and realign the caliper aswell

everywhere that something meets something else you just need to eliminate the possibility of vibration

good quality bike you have there mate - if that happened to me I would have got my 3k back! lol ;) my bike may have been be a little wonky but yours is falling apart :p

The Avid Turkey Warble the best solution to which is buying new brakes :D

The most common cause is loose bolts on either the rotor or calliper, also check that all the alignment spacers are in the right way around and another thing to try is giving the rotors a rub with some very fine grit paper to remove any imperfections.

sorry if its been covered before, cycling to work atm, 7 miles each way, suffering with severe pins and needles, I know I have Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, and am awaiting decompression, any simple ways of helping relieve the pain in the mean time? again sorry if its been covered.

Anyone recommended me a good set of MTB tryes for my giant xtc 2.5 2007?

Also hoq do you know when you brakes need bleeding as mine seem to have lost there bite if that makes sence? I.E if you were going fast and slammed brakes on you would be over your handle bars and the lever couldn't be pressed any further. Or could this just be knew brake pads probably had the bike 3/4 years now
