Yeah was announced a few days ago. More companies in the bike industry can only be a good thing.

It could be the pads just need a quick going over with sandpaper or the discs need a degrease.

Find a good local bike shop. Give them a call and ask them if you can take your bike in just for them to give it the once over and see what needs doing/adjust gears. It will give you some peace of mind if you are new to it all.

Thanks for your help. Was a great bike shop we used to always got to in peak district possibly in Matlock but little far out now. Might take it to the place where i brought the bike from or possibly see what i can find on internet. There is an Evans nearby but they seem expensive.

I shall order some decreaser, Avid 3 brake pads, Pedals, and tyres plus new inner tubes soon

Right guys, I have a 2006 Carrera Fury, and I'm looking to get it back into a safe state to ride for popping to the shops and in the winter, and possibly some to work riding on some slicks. It needs a few bits first though, I took it into a LBS who quoted about £170 but just want to know what sort of parts I would need and possibly look to do it myself on the cheap.

I have figured I need a new bottom bracket, pedal arms as one of the threads has gone on them, front sprockets, and rear 9 speed sprocket, and obviously a new chain.

The guy at the LBS recommended an all in one shimano bottom bracket and pedal set to remove the old truvativ stuff, and then some shimano sprockets.

With Deore parts you could do it for about £100

Deore Chainset, Deore Cassette, Sram PC971 Chain, Gear cable.

Plus the cost of a chainwhip,lockring tool, spanner, BB tool, chain tool.

chainwhip isnt needed i have only ever used a rag to get a grip.

I have only every used a hammer to install a headset but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Anyway... I have to wait at least another 4 weeks for my frame, they havent even started painting my batch of frames, i was very tempted by the red frame they had in stock but decided to stick to my choice and wait.

Having now ridden my Rockrider for a couple of days, it's definitely starting to grow on me. The frame size issue is pretty much moot now too. Looking forward to getting a few extra things like the pedals so I can really throw the thing around.

I do a lot of walking and sport (running, football, gym) when I can, but I'm finding cycling quite tiring! Definitely exercising leg muscles I haven't 'used' in some time. Very much looking forward to some long bike-rides. Just need to get those padded shorts. Can anyone recommend any padded shorts?

Got my Renthal Fatbars today and went out for a ride tonight, also a 50mm stem from my 70mm its a whole lot different, not sure i like it yet, but its stopped all my back problems and seems to have put me into a better posistion on the bike to pedal, as i wasnt tired at the points im usually huffing and puffing. Probably take some time to dial in the bar rotation for the back sweep and height of the stem but its good, and they look awsome too.

Edit. While im at it, any tips on jumping, i can jump in a fashion but compared to others that do it im terrible, always land too much on the front i think, and how to whip or setup for the off camber landings? I know this is something ill have to keep trying, but some tips wouldnt go a miss in aiding that goal.

I have a pair of Endura Humvee shorts which have a padded liner. Can be removed if you dont need the padded liner. I sometimes feel the padding doesnt quite go far enough up the back but, TBH, it does its job.

Padded shorts do feel a bit weird to begin with, especially when walking
