I take back what I said about not noticing much difference in rolling resistance when I changed the front tyre.
Did my local route tonight which is between 25 and 50% tarmac and uphill.
The 2.35" Fat Albert makes it a biatch compared to the Speed King! One way to get fitter without increasing the distance pedalled! The high winds and extreme rain didn't help either, came back about 10lb heavier with all the mud attached to me/the bike.
It was still awesome at the trail centre and would recommend it for use there, locally maybe not so much.
Think my gears need to be re-indexed. I followed the guide in Zinns book and online and couldn't get them to work properly, the chain will jump down gears when using 3-6 but will stay in gear OK at either end but it doesn't go straight into 9th, usually takes a while. Have to see which bike shops open late that I can use locally.

Check you don't have a stiff link in the chain.

Thanks, I'll look over the bike tomorrow and check my chain over, just washed it down and dried it tonight.
I'm leaning towards having it looked at by a mechanic now and if they will show me what is at fault that would be best!
Found somewhere that looks to be a decent enough shop, just not so local to me, might be able to drop it off there and collect Saturday followed by a ride at Gisburn...
Check your jockey wheels as well.
Re: Punctures.
I've thrown out the cheap tesco tube and set about repairing my old tube. Currently found two seperate punctures.
Checked the inside of the tyre and rim completely, found nothing sharp although the tape has shifted slightly. May consider buying some new tape and re-taping the rim myself soon.
That aside, the first of my recent orders have arrived.
I now own:
1 x Wellgo v12 copies - Black (only decent colour they had in stock)
1 x Giro Athlon 2011 Helmet
1 x Kryptonite New York D-Lock
The D-Lock is nowhere near as heavy as I thought it would be. Seems people have been making a big fuss over something minor. Bit too heavy to attach to my frame if I plan on throwing it about, but it weighs no more than I'd expect, similar to a very small dumbell for example.
I think that when my saddle-bag turns up, if I've got enough room I'm going to try and fit in some latex gloves, a tiny bit of tin-foil and a clean-wipe in with the other usual suspects. All to aid with emergency repairs.
The punctures are all unrelated it seems as they are all in different places.
Is it normal for a helmet to feel so strange? There's no doubt about it being the right size, plus it's heavily adjustable... it just feels very, very odd. Almost worried prolonged wearing would give me a headache the way it feels.

Hope you sort out what you can regards insurance. Some cover bikes up to a limit etc just depends on insurance companies.I specifically added and named my on-one on my insurance last month to make sure it was covered.
Probably not as I was meaning to add my bike to my home insurance last week but I didn't get around to it as I was so busy!

Feel for you mate, had my Spesh Pitch stolen mid-summer 2010, car got smashed up in the process. I'd chop the thieving scummers hands off if I caught them!

Bad luck mate, hopefully your insurance will cover it all.That reminds me, I need to phone E&L to get my cover changed from the Pitch to Enduro - also to get it changed on my home insurance (yes, it's insured twice
)I know it's illegal to claim for the same loss twice, I have it insured twice for three reasons...
1) It costs me nothing extra to have it named on my home insurance policy.
2) The home insurance policy will pay out the full retail amount of the bike if it's stolen from the home whereas the specific bike policy doesn't.
3) The specific bike policy covers theft from my bike rack, getting mugged for your bike, public liability and a few others the home insurance policy doesn't cover.
On another topic - has anyone used bike tape before? (I know IC does...) - Where would be the best place to apply bike tape on my Enduro and what size would you lot recommend? Too many choices
x2 - got the same stuff as well. mainly covered the downtube, any areas of cable rub etc. seems good stuff.
