Big Bike Thread

Hi guys,

My company is moving offices on 4th of july which is slightly further away. I normally walk to work and it takes about half an hour, but the new offices is 8 miles away so looking at getting a bike. Below is the route for the walking path from my road to new office:

As you can see it's a pretty sweet route along really flat paths all the way there. What would be the best bike for this? A road bike?

Also I have found someone selling a road bike for £100:

Cost £700 new, isn't that a steal? Selling it due to poor health.

Thanks in advance chaps

When riding uphill, in gears 9-12 i am getting some real creaking, probably from the bottom bracket area.

I am about 19st and try to put a fair bit of power down because its not so easy to drag that much weight uphill.

Should i be worried or is this normal, due to the cheapness of the bike and my enormous weight

I'd say the chances are the bottom bracket could need replacing if its a cheap bike and you've been riding it hard for a while.

Is there any play in the crank itself? If not and if you have the tools and are able, take off the crank and remove the bottom bracket, clean it, grease it and put crank back on securely.

If it does need replacing then standard bottom brackets are pretty cheap.

Just had my Mavic Crosstrail at my LBS with a loose spoke....all other spokes were 100% ok so kinda strange...

The guy just tightened it up and checked it was true (which it was) and didn't charge me.

I assume something must have hit it while out on the trail? Not sure..I'll keep an eye on it anyway. It's strange that a single spoke could be so loose

Can anyone give any input on that trek roadbike for sale I linked? I'm abit clueless but if it's a total steal for £100 I don't really want to miss out on it.

No play in the crank at all, and it really only happens when im really digging in.

I dont have a BB tool so i may take it to the LBS and see what they have to say.

Anyone ride a Focus here?

Wiggle have a Black Forest 3.0 for only £900 at the minute, which looks a bargin.

Sizing looks quite weird thought, the Large has an extremely short top tube. I would try it, but you cant :D
I'm 6'2" and around a 34" leg

You can try them, they do a 30 day test ride on Focus bikes. I had a Focus Black Forest last year, I loved it.
